December 9, 20204 yr Kolachis might be the most overrated thing about Houston, including Galveston and Kema. Oh wow, a hot dog baked in a pastry, someone call michelin and get them over here, stat.

December 9, 20204 yr I just don't get all the love for these super warm places. Yeah there's a limit to how much cold I'm willing to deal with but in general if it's cold I can put on clothes. If it's hot I can do F all but sweat and slowly grow melanoma. Like to visit, but as far as living give me temperate over tropical 10/10 times. Florida is my nightmare. 38 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said: Kolachis might be the most overrated thing about Houston, including Galveston and Kema. Dough is a bit different, but otherwise just as pointless. Of all the regionally-unique food from places I've been to in the states, I'd have to say chislick from South Dakota was probably the thing I enjoyed the most. Small cuts of lamb or beef on skewers and dipped in this homemade ranch-type sauce. F'ing amazing. I could eat that ish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I love a good lamb kebab. Rhode Island's is the "stuffy". Creepy name but it's clams and sometimes other seafood mixed with some herbs and breading baked in a quahog clam shell. Pretty solid if you find a good place.

And I say "water" because the raw sewage coming out of the Mississippi River should be labeled military grade, radioactive waste. And that's what you are swimming in when you're in Galveston. So should I not go to Corpus Christi and swim in the gulf?

Also a big portuguese population around here so a lot of places it will have chopped up chourico or linguica.

Getting a bit far afield here but I'd literally murder anyone who tried to stand between me and a bowl of lamb korma.

December 11, 20204 yr Kolachis come in all kinds and flavors. Not just hot dogs. Breakfast kolachi are wonderful - if you find the right place. If you walk into a good kolachi place and walk out with a pig in a blanket, that is on you. Perry's is a chain, but their pork chop is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. If you are moving to Texas, make sure they don't secede first.
