Longtime Philly sports columnist John Smallwood has died.  He covered all kinds of sports for both the Inquirer and Daily News and was a regular on Daily News Live.  He also wrote the book on Alan Iverson.  Good writer and by all accounts a good guy.

Sad news. he was a great guy.

Daily News, Inquirer sports columnist John Smallwood remembered for his gregarious, friendly manner and his calm, measured writing style

Always enjoyed him on DNL

RIP John

edit: RIP Dick Allen as well

I liked him on dnl as well.  So young.  Sad.

This is what I remember John Smallwood for:

RIP

he was great on DNL.

damn that sucks. really enjoyed his work, both in print and on the sport shows.

RIP

May he RIP there! Thoughts and prayers are with his family!

RIP.

Smallwood, Jasner and Conlin - I remember all of them well from Daily News Live.  Obviously Conlins career/life took a left hand turn there...

How many of those "DNL regulars" are even still working for the Daily News or Inquirer anymore?  Think most have either been let go or have retired...

Les Bowen, Marcus Hayes, Paul Domowich..?

RIP John Smallwood. Richard Smallwood is alive and well. Ask my wife.

Good for Richard there!
