Instead of calling it a hoax

I have no idea why you'd take this position.  I can think of a dozen ways where the administration has face planted here.  And many of them are unique to the hubris/stupidity of how this President operates.  It's all a learning experience to be sure, but does anyone have any faith that if this happened again, Trump wouldn't make the exact same mistakes?

see, this is what concerns me, you like so many, are focusing on trump and his administration alone. im not immune to that myself, i admit it. (btw seems you & rjc missed the fact that i stated trump has fumbled his way through this situation. that's not the main point i was making though.

im saying im not sure how much better another POTUS would've done with this. its speculation of course, but all levels of government have failed in this, certainly some more than others, there's no doubt about that. thing is we cant just look at the dope in charge and lose focus on the other failures.

Allowing test kits from the WHO, not telling people to inject cleaning products, and not openly calling for armed revolution in states where governors were mean to him would be nice

I'll give you the other two, but that one?

"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute, And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets inside the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”

Some people pay attention to what the President says. Some apparently do not.

To be fair, he didn't tell people to do it as much as he asked a medical professional if there was a way to inject people with household disinfectants during a nationally televised briefing.

But he said he was being sarcastic the next day, so it's all good.

The problem with the President is he is usually talking while thinking of something to say.

Trump didn't tell people to ingest fish tank cleaner either. But if you're at home sick, delirious, and desperate for a treatment, you might try anything.

Maybe my reading comprehension skills aren't as astute as yours, but nowhere in there do I see..."Go inject yourselves with Lysol."  Was it a stupid question to ask?  Absolutely.  Did he look into the camera and tell (dumb) people... "Go shoot up some Clorox"?  No.

More than stupid, it seems more like a sign of legitimate cognitive decline.  He's either unaware that there are some questions that are best posited away from the cameras, or he forgets where he is.  Either way, his mind is clearly on the downslope.  For the sake of the nation (and for his own sake, honestly), it's time to put him out to pasture.

That's why we should have investigations into the response, which was my original point, to see where the failures happened and put ourselves in a position to not let that happen again.  It's clear that some of those failures came from the top and were the result of hubris/poor judgement (and there's only one remedy for that), but the rest of them should be looked into as well, so that the next administration can streamline the process and avoid the same mistakes.

That's what narcissistic personality disorder is. I have no doubt what went through his mind right before he said that was something like "Hey i bet these scientists never thought about this solution before! I better give them a push in the right direction! Good thing I'm here to provide them some good ideas!"

It was a reckless and irresponsible thing to say which definitely did not help anything or anyone. If we can't at least agree on that, I don't know what to tell you.

Big difference between the above statement and your misconception earlier that he made a declarative statement instead of an interrogatory one.

well, yeah. i'm not on any hill & i think we're actually in agreement.  here in murica, we're used to being the best.  if the united states makes up 4% of the world's population, i would expect it to make up <4% of the worldwide covid deaths...because of medical technology, resources, being murica & all.

I think it’s tough to try to draw conclusions based on populations though.  For example, Alaska has 10 deaths so far, with a population of 735k.  New York has 25k deaths with a population of almost 20M.  By comparison New York has about 27 times the population of Alaska, but they have 2,500 times the number of deaths.  It doesn’t mean that Alaska has more resources or better technology.   Alaska represents .2% of the US population but just .01% of the deaths.  NY represents 32% of the deaths in the US while representing 6% of the population.

I don’t agree with everything this guy says but his idea about the self fulfilling prophecy with government sucking and trump being president of a government that sucks is spot on

between this and the bridgegate decision, trump is in heaven.

Right now, at this very second, The Donald has a group 8 black people, in the Rose Garden, singing God Bless America, on National Prayer Day, while journalists sit there and watch. :worthy: :usa:

Trump’s personal valet tested positive for Covid-19 and no one wears masks in the White House.   Hmmmm
