Love how quiet it is compared to the in wall AC unit that used to run in our livingroom area. Cant wait to see how it is for heat in the winter. No word on when the excavation will begin. They told us maybe this week but looking like that didnt happen. I’m supposed to travel to Houston to see what I think is the worlds largest HVAC manufacturing facility (including ductless systems) the last week in October. I should also be getting some general training on how those systems are designed and laid out to increase general knowledge and familiarity.
September 27, 20223 yr We had our 30 year old kitchen redone a few months ago. I had the cabinets and counters installed by professionals. I tore out the old cabinets, installed the backsplash, flooring, and under cabinet lighting. Green on games day.
September 27, 20223 yr And if that wasn’t enough work, I finally got around to redoing the deck with composite. I’m still working on this. Hope to be done by the time the weather heat too cold. before
September 27, 20223 yr Added a wrap around step. Started screwing down deck boards. I almost abandoned the picture frame plans but it’s not going too bad so far.
September 27, 20223 yr In the work smarter not harder department. I spent about $50 bucks for a ten lb sledge to brake up this concrete step. After a few hours and dog knows how many swings, I couldn’t break this last piece down small enough. it cost me $40 and change to rent a jackhammer for four hours.

So I had to hire an electrician. I feel shame. I hate paying someone to do something I can do but the older I get the more that becomes a necessity. I don’t have many DIY jobs left in me.

I hear you. Unfortunately I have about 5 years worth of projects already in the queue. Kitchen, two bathrooms (maybe 3) and finishing my basement.
October 9, 20223 yr I’m always second guessing myself that we decided to finish what mr Di started on a low budget since we won’t own it. It’s been pure blood sweat and tears. Have to try and get ceiling and walls up in the back room (bedroom) and winterize the place. Son cut the corner counter and baseboard today.
October 19, 20223 yr Saw this meme and honestly, I want to make me a breaker finder. It's a troll job that's going to kill me, right?
October 20, 20223 yr Last of the bay pics for the season. Went down last Friday and packed up anything that would freeze. Had a gallon of primer there so slapped it on these paneling sheets that son started putting up on Sunday. Drained the water lines. The container he handed me to pour in the toilet foamed up so THEN I read it to see it was vehicle wash! Luckily his buddy had some anti-freeze on his truck and saved me another trip. Flushed the washer stuff down and drained the toilet, again! We have had to do a lot of things more than once, but it's coming down the home stretch. We should definitely be 100% done by 1-Jul 2023 (Mr. Di's birthday). Ceiling and 1 wall in the back room are up. Access to shower plumbing. Pocket door to back room hung. Last sunset. Made it home just before half time.

I've seen electricians find breakers by shorting a line. I've also seen electricians who could tell the difference in 110v and 220v by touching the lines, so they might not be the best role models
January 16, 20232 yr We just went under contract on a new property in Brigantine - stay tuned for the updates, questions, frustrations and before and afters. paco may or may not want to divorce me for having to execute my vision and ideas yet again - it’s his fault for being so good at home improvements

February 8, 20232 yr I think the heater just quit. Don’t make me go down there, pull the fridge out, move the dried flowers I did since everyone sent so many I kept some, and try to reset the f’ng thing. Your son has helped me but since he is a brat he teaches me to do these vile things. I hate doing it!!! All of it. We finally got something in writing from the beach cottage you built and we are trying to finish. I miss you and I’m pissed. I’m probably going to fail at the rest of my life but if you can please help me? I’m hosting another super bowl this weekend. I’m so sorry you are not here for this one but it was so fun you got to see one! I want to make this one as special as before without you but send me some damn heat!!! Please.

Go Birds!! glad to hear youre not gunna freeze. is it gas or electric heat? my neighbor, who has gas heat, has a problem with his pilot light blowing out if the wind blows a certain way. ive had mine blow out on my water heater before. i think the fix is a longer exhaust, but not 100% sure on that.
