glad to hear youre not gunna freeze. is it gas or electric heat? my neighbor, who has gas heat, has a problem with his pilot light blowing out if the wind blows a certain way. ive had mine blow out on my water heater before. i think the fix is a longer exhaust, but not 100% sure on that.

It's oil hot air.  Spent my XMas bonus $$ buying fuel @ $3.999 a gallon!!!!   The landlord told me that his son went around and changed nozzle, oil filter, and pump strainer this fall.  What I think is that the nozzle probably isn't angled correctly as I also am getting some fumes (nothing bad though).  The other day when I was pulling in, I was checking out the smoke/steam coming out of the chimney, and it was whiteish and not dark or black which would indicate a bigger problem. So there's that.  It needs to be properly serviced by a professional.  If the LL won't do it, I will just pay for it and raise hell over it. F'ng slum lord.

Finally the reset button quit working.  Grateful it’s warm out but still need heat to run a few times a day. Land lord was responsive this morning. You can imagine my mood wasn’t great.  He told me who he would call his guy and of course I know him so I had a professional fix the thing today.  I texted to thank him.

I bought my own crow bar today.  Time to step away from the tv and sweat a little.  Had some pallets delivered. They were free. I’m ripping them down which is taking forever, and making me day drink!   These will go down to the cottage. Making a wainscoting for the back wall.  Going to stain these different colors to attain a rustic yet beachy look.

Well, I didn't have to go get a tetanus shot. I'm old and slow and 1 pallet takes me over an hour. Some of these are pretty rough, so when I'm mad and the board doesn't look good, I bang and split the heck out of it.  I ripped one yesterday and don't you know it's an inch and a half shorter than the ones I ripped on Saturday!  Whoops.  Tonight, I will go through the pile and pick out the good ones that are the right length. I never do anything right on the first try!  Never!

I don't have a wood shop or a planer, I will give them a good wash with some arm and hammer soap and put out in the sun for a while. Might use wood filler or glue on any really rough spots before staining. Feeling OK, right arm just a bit sore from swinging the hammer. What I don't use will get cut up for my fire pit.

If you still have a lot of skids to break down I’d get one of these. I got one to tear my old deck apart. It’s great for skids, and well worth $65.

Weather, work, and arthritis have slowed down the deck project but I was able to get some railing  installed today. One more deck board needs laid down, and facia needs covered until it’s complete but it’s functional.

Looking good @Tnt4philly

I also haven't gotten much done due to weather and social engagements.  Yesterday was nice so I ripped 2 more, got some wood filler and sanded the one side of about 20 boards. My arm hurts a little but not too bad.  Need a couple more, and if a pallet has 3 nails in it, I'm skipping that one.  They are hard!! Getting pretty good at the 2 nail ones though, moving faster with my wonder bar and hammer.

My son and I went down to the cottage in the rain on Saturday.  Of course the water valve under the cottage was busted and broken because something wasn't done right from the main, and having 3 cottages running off of it.  I don't want to know, I just want to turn the handle and have water and a working bathroom.  We had to go to Home Depot for parts, so this took him almost all afternoon.  He was soaked but had a clean shirt in the truck.  Hit Bakers in Elkton for dinner.  That was the highlight of the day.

Measured from back door to end of wall.  I don't think I have enough wood ready yet.  Will need to break down some more pallets.  Here's what it looks like:

I like it @tnt4philly.

This week will be 3 years since Mr. Di passed and we're still not done.  This is the last room. I'm taking a day off this week to go paint.  I put two stools together all by myself yesterday without throwing anything.  Notice my wonderful spray foam job around the window.  I'll be cleaning that up so we can get some trim done.

This made me LOL.

Was off yesterday and went down to the bay by myself.  Had the whole place to myself.  It was very peaceful.  I saw that my son had left his tools there so maybe that's a good sign that he plans to return soon.  Can't believe it's 3 years and we're still not done.  I really need a carpenter there is so much trim to do once these last walls go up.  I'm also to the point where I have to hang something up on the walls that are done instead of it collecting dust in my basement. So, I took down just a few things, and made a place to sleep for now.

Adding to say the day was not without its failures.  I was informed by cousin that her keys are missing and the owners who were given keys also do not possess one. While at Lowes I thought I'd try that key making machine they have. They key went into the lock but did not work at all.  Ours and the cottage next door are keyed a liked, so did I pick the wrong key blank?  Is this something I really need to know? Really?  A freaking key I can't get right. Another trip to Lowes and I will seek out the associate to make them this time. Ugh!!!

Cousin also left me a 5-gal pail of paint, and when I opened it, it looked like this.  I'm not stirring that up or using it.  I'll buy my own since I will be at Lowes anyway! Needless to say, no painting was done yesterday.  Pitching arm warming up.

i'm a member of a very specific bank ( i don't believe i gotta mention the specifics of what kind of bank ) who would be willing to accept the majority of that bucket as a deposit (should i vouch for the likes of yourself) i also am in daily contact with another member (whose name i won't mention other than it may rhyme with robeff ) whom would be more than willing to withdraw on whichever account the deposit was made (at a more than fair price, slightly over the market average) within hours after said deposit.

Looks good - how are the chairs for sturdiness?

They are pretty sturdy especially when compared to others I’ve seen.

Trimmed where the wall meets the ceiling in the front room with rope.  Was actually my son's idea, but he gets it from me.  Second air conditioner is in.  I put primer on a wall in the back room, cut away over spray of foam insulation around the windows to get ready for trim. Washed a couple windows. I really wish they would remove this dead tree from my view.
