Road to Victory
Eagles Rumors: Josh McCown Received 'Serious Consideration' for HC Interview ROB GOLDBERGJANUARY 24, 2021 The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly gave "very serious consideration" to Josh McCown as a head coach candidate before eventually hiring Nick Sirianni, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. McCown, who spent the 2019 season as a backup quarterback with the Eagles, reportedly "wowed the staff and front office with his leadership, football acumen and people skills." The team eventually decided not to interview him due to his lack of coaching experience. McCown reportedly interviewed for the Houston Texans head coaching vacancy after spending 2020 on the team's roster, per Sarah Barshop of ESPN. The Eagles believe the 41-year-old will be an NFL head coach "sooner rather than later." McCown has never coached in the NFL, but he has been around the league since being drafted in 2002, playing games for nine different organizations. The journeyman had a few opportunities as a starter, leading teams to a 23-53 record, but he mostly spent time as a backup around the league. He initially announced his retirement as a player in 2019 and became a quarterbacks coach for his son's high school until signing with the Eagles. His career extended with the Texans in 2020, although it seems his future now is in coaching. McCown could have helped former teammate and Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz, but that role will now go to Sirianni. The former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator has spent the past three years working for Frank Reich, who was with the Eagles during the 2017 run to the Super Bowl. Wormlegs
Former player that played on ALOT of different teams and learned under ALOT of different coordinators. I wouldn't be against it at all.
