Not a knock on EVs, just the reality of new technology. Used EVs can be even more expensive than buying new due to the cost of battery replacement. Obviously depending on the model, how many miles are on the car and how many miles you drive. A car like a Tesla is going to require a $20K battery replacement at around 100K miles. So if you buy a used model with 50K miles for $35K, then 5 years later you’re going to shell out another $20K for a new battery. Might as well just buy new and have the full warranty.

January 6, 20232 yr President Biden hails jobs report: 'It’s a good time to be a worker in America' The U.S. added 223,000 jobs in December, beating economist expectations of 202,000, while the unemployment rate fell to its lowest since 1969 at 3.5%. In total, 4.5 million jobs were added in the U.S. throughout 2022.
January 6, 20232 yr Wage growth is slightly down, helping reduce inflation fears. Market rallied, which is weird since Powell seems to be intent in slaying inflation past its ebbing point. IOW: Powell was late with rate hikes, now he's going to be late in slowing them down.
January 6, 20232 yr FWIW long term I think we're in a much better place with a prime rate in the range of 8% while the economy is strong, as it currently is. The stock market will need to adjust. But it gives us flexibility to respond to a recession. Short term it sucks for my 401k, but I'd rather see the economy managed to health and cheap money drying up in DC for the long term.

April 3, 20232 yr Oil will be over $100 a barrel in the near future. Meanwhile, Japan has broken from the West and is buying Russian oil at market price instead of the $60 a barrel cap.

April 3, 20232 yr Yes the WSJ reported on this. Japan is uniquely dependent on energy sources from Russia among the G7. An exception was made for a tiny amount of oil. Less than a million barrels.

The gasoline futures jumped by $0.10 per gallon on the news and have since stabilized. You think $0.10 matters when last June they were $1.50 higher than they are now? LOL.

April 4, 20232 yr I don't understand why the presidents keep raising prices all the time? He sets gas prices. Why does he punish us?
April 4, 20232 yr Time for the U.S. to halt all weapons contracts and transfers to Saudi Arabia. They cut production which will lead to higher prices. The U.S. needs to hold them accountable.

They are holding us accountable for not living up to our end of the bargain. But yeah, let’s totally poison relations further. I’m sure that will help and not drive the Saudis into the arms of China and Russia. Brilliant idea!
