There are now conflicting reports out there about Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz’s future in Philadelphia.

Associated Press reporter Rob Maaddi says that people close to Wentz say the quarterback does not want to leave Philadelphia and has not told anyone that he wants to leave.

Maaddi said that for Wentz, his family and friends would factor in the decision and that he has a lot of investments in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas, such as the AO1 Foundation and the THY Kingdom Crumb food truck.

Earlier in the day, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wentz was not interested in being a backup in the 2021 season. Schefter also said if Wentz were to be a backup to Jalen Hurts, he would want to be traded.

Wentz had thrown for 2,620 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions before being benched in the second half of the Dec. 6 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Wentz’s contract will make it hard for him to be traded if the Eagles were to move on from Wentz. Wentz signed a four-year, $128 million contract extension in 2019.

According to Sportrac, the Eagles could face $59 million in dead cap money if they would move on from Wentz.
