Posted March 17, 20214 yr Anyone have them? How well do they work? Just moved in to a much bigger home and I ordered one, there is a ton more area to clean now. Hoping it can keep the main floor of the house fairly clean so we can just worry about the top floor bedroom areas for basic cleaning. If it works good I am gonna pick up another for the basement floor, which is huge but we have not started to use it yet. Just looking for thoughts.
March 18, 20214 yr My kids bought me one. A knock off brand. They work OK, but you have to empty the damn thing out every use, and depending on the terrain in your home it could possibly get hung up. Mine would go under the furniture and get stuck. I would also have to close the bathroom door, and spare room door (last room w/carpet) so it wouldn't go in there. If it runs while you're out and it gets stuck someplace it will lose its charge. I don't recommend doing that. Now that it's just me I really have no use for it. I just do it myself.

It empties itself and you throw a disposable bin away every month or two. My first floor is mostly open and the flooring transitions are almost flat. The one door I will need to remember to leave open is my wife's office at night (we are going to try setting it for 1am, it's supposed to be fairly quiet), but if it skips that room here and there I can live with that. Thanks for your reply, I will have to keep and eye on how it works and your points are something to watch for. I can send it back after 60 days if I don't like it and it was fairly costly.
March 22, 20214 yr You have to do a good deep clean first but then if you set it to run once a day it’s really nice for upkeep especially if you have pets
March 22, 20214 yr We have a Roomba and it works perfectly for general upkeep like Binky said, especially with a Golden Retriever in the house. Even though we typically run it every night, we still have/use a traditional vacuum cleaner when doing a general clean.
March 22, 20214 yr My oldest has a dbot, and I'm pretty impressed with it, even thought about getting one, just haven't been able to pull the trigger on the $600 it costs.

March 28, 20214 yr Author So update. Had new carpet installed a couple weeks ago. Vacuumed everything with the regular machine real good as soon as the installers left, set up the robot (Roomba I7 plus) and let it do the mapping run. Set up the dividers, named the rooms and set a narrow couple boundaries behind the 2 reclining couches (they are just the right height for it to sometimes get stuck.) So far it's worked flawlessly. I haven't been using the schedule functions yet, I turn it on to do the main living areas right before I leave work and by the time I get home it's done. It's nice coming home to a freshly vacuumed house every day to be honest. And after I cook dinner and we eat, I have it vacuum the kitchen, and as soon as it's done the Bravia kicks on and mops. Pretty cool, and the one thing I found surprising pleasant is both robots are much quieter than I expected. You can watch TV and hardly notice they are on. It's also kinda fun to watch work to be honest. I'll probably eventually get another for the basement after I furnish and start using it.

And like others have said if you have dogs or cats vacuuming the whole main floor everyday really makes a huge difference in the dust levels and overall cleanliness.
