I can't speak to the specifics of that, but it's probably unsustainable. The mid-late 90's featured three things which gave the U.S. economy a boost: 1) The collapse of the Soviet Union and end to the Cold War, 2) The Asian economic crisis which drove down the price of oil, 3) low interest rates which created a stock market bubble which has persisted to the present day. If Greenspan's Fed raises rates instead of Greenspan trying to merely jawbone down an "overexhuberant" stock market, our economy might very well be in a different place today. It really was a domino effect which begat the 2000 tech bubble which begat the real estate bubble which created the economic crisis of 2008.

December 7, 20214 yr 1 hour ago, vikas83 said: I did growing up. Why do you think I dedicated my life to material wealth? When I was a kid and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was simply "rich." To be fair, my upbringing went from lower middle class to upper middle class as my dad got promoted. But Indian parents tend to be cheap as hell. I hated hearing that I couldn't have something because it wasn't on sale, or we didn't have a coupon (side note: my mom legit had a shoe box with coupons organized by product that she took to Acme every time). I never wanted to be in a position to give a damn about sales, coupons, etc. My buddy's parents were the same way (coupon collecting). Now his dad is nearing 90, has a couple million in the bank, is living in India in a massive place with an elevator in his house, cooks, servants, driver etc and complains everyday about spending money. I mean he has a guy that follows him around 24/7 and will do anything he asks. If he wants the channel changed on the TV he doesnt even need to lift a remote, all he needs to do is ask him. It pisses him off to no end. He keeps saying that he can't get out of this clipping coupon mentality even though he is nearing the end and all he wants him to do is enjoy his life. I think that is why we get along, we both have the same drive. I grew up as a broke as white boy in Neptune NJ, my family on welfare, WIC etc and all I wanted to do was GTFO out of there and make enough money so myself and my children would never have to worry about it. There is nothing worst as a kid then being stressed out over money, something that you really have no control over. The first thing I did when I bought my house was by a 24 pack of bottled water and put it in the garage because growing up, that is what I thought rich people did. While I want my children to never worry, my goal changed to just making sure that they got through college with no debt and then let them figure it out. So far two down and two more to go. The one thing that always drove him was that when he was younger was that he would want something like McDonald's like the other kids, but he was told it was too expensive. So that drove him to always have enough money to eat anywhere he ever wants to. We probably spend way too much on dinner when we hang out. His mom tell me it was because she didnt want him to eat that 'American' garbage, but he tells a different story.

December 8, 20214 yr 9 hours ago, JohnSnowsHair said: the conversation was fairly ambiguous on this, but my main point was about political power. TEW talks about how colleges are liberal, which is well and good but hippie college professors are not particularly influential in actual politics. the argument has always been that they're "brainwashing" college students and have been for generations, yet Democrats still don't seem all that enthused or likely to pass BBB despite all that supposed influence. I think the impact of the MSM has been reversed frankly. Obviously there is still a lot in the way of liberal news sources out there, but right wing news is incredibly influential among the voting base of the right, which votes more frequently and more reliably for Republicans. It's part of what has allowed Republicans to punch above their weight politically for the past generation, along with the systemic advantages of the electoral college and more ruthless use of gerrymandering compared to Democrats. On Gerrymandering, Democrats do appear set to exploit this more than they ever have in 2020 however, while Republicans really can't squeeze any more representation out than earlier gerrymanders already did. The reality is that the most socialist/progressive voters don't vote reliably, and never have. This is true throughout history. Those who show up to the polls and vote reliably are generally older, have been at least partially disabused of whatever politics they embraced as a youth, and vote on meat-and-potatoes issues. You just don't have a group of reliable voters that politicians can court that espouse the radical left-wing views TEW and others complain about, outside of select districts. On the flip side you have Republicans that MUST actively demonstrate fealty to Trump (which is why he stays in the news, I would LOVE to stop talking about that crooked con-artist loser who tried to steal an election) or else they risk being primaried. You just don't have that effect on the left; Democrat house members aren't making trips up to Vermont to kiss Bernie's ring. Bernie LOST THE PRIMARY to Biden, who was considered the most moderate of the top-tier Democratic candidates. That alone speaks volumes about where the Democratic electorate is. Do you think someone like Hogan or Sununu would be able to defeat Trump for the Republican primary? I don't. I think if Trump announces, he wins handily - because that's what the voters want. In what alternate universe do college professors have no influence on politics? Professors are the ones who shape the minds of college students, and college students become a disproportionate share of the voters. Where do you think all of this leftist insanity comes from? Do you think all of these radical activists randomly come to the same moronic conclusions? Or do you think that maybe they’re all being taught the same things by radical professors? Critical Race Theory is a great example. A concept created by professors that now forms the basis for public school curriculums. Without these insane professors, we don’t have trannies raping people in bathrooms they shouldn’t be in, we don’t have schools teaching everyone that white people are evil, we don’t have the entire third wave feminist harpy movement. Where do you think the whole "criminal justice reform” idea came from? Do you think it spontaneously spawned in the minds of people, or do you think maybe it was dreamed up by moronic professors? Then there’s the whole climate change hysteria. All backed by studies (some proven to be fabricated) out of universities. This whole crusade was spawned in academia. Basically every policy is in part justified by studies that come out of academia, both left and right, on nearly every issue. But yeah, definitely no influence on politics.

But what really stuck was odd - whenever we actually did stay in a hotel, room service was completely forbidden. My brother got it once, and my dad went ballistic. Pretty sure I caught a beating just for being there. Anytime I travel, I get room service. Even if it is just a snack, soda, etc. I refuse to stay in a hotel and not get it. I also take drinks from the minibar.

Yes, trannies are raping kids at school because of the ideas conceived of and promoted by radicals in academia. No. I believe your constant f-ing crying about the public school system has more to do wanting to privatize public education than any "obvious historical truths”. The propaganda push to completely wreck the school system into privatization has more to do profiteering than education. But the voters have to be convinced the system is broken before they will accept the solution. If you, and others pushing privatized education, know of such a better and more efficient way to educate, why don’t you use the free market to open your own school. I’m sure the quality and value you produce with your extensive f-ing knowledge will spread like wildfire and everyone will line up to send their kids to TEW University.
