If the ultimate selections for elite units (or any other units) are based on merit and earned then I see no reason why allowing diverse candidates into these units would hurt their effectiveness. However, if we are offering preferential treatment, or worse yet, mandating diversity quotas in each unit, then yes...I believe it may very well weaken our abilities. All that being said, if you want to open up Ranger school, BUDS and other elite certification courses to women and others then be my guest. If they make it, good for them.
