May 26, 20214 yr Honestly, having to obtain a permit to carry a firearm is ridiculous. If you can't obtain a permit, you also can't buy a handgun. If you get stopped and don't have a permit, but are otherwise legal to have a gun on your person, it's the same crime as not being able to obtain a permit and carrying anyway. Laws, like locks, only stop honest people.
June 15, 20214 yr https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/unplanned-outages-hit-texas-power-plants-amid-soaring-temperatures-n1270827 Texas is the new California. Except they're having the same problems with their independent power grid. Weird. Almost like it has more to do with population growth, climate and weather patterns, and commitment to competent energy suppliers than the particular politics of a state or region. Less gratifying than pooping on regions whose politics differ from our own though.
June 16, 20214 yr It isn't about politics. It is: Does your planning and policies support what is happening on the ground in your region? And if it doesn't, what are you going to do to fix it? If our leaders are determined to make everything a political argument, we are doomed.

One of the people in the car had two active warrants out for their arrest. "We were like, ‘Well, this doesn’t bode well for the weekend,’” Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle told the Lexington Herald-Leader. By the end of the five-day bash, dubbed the "Redneck Rave,” one man had been impaled, one woman had been strangled to the point of unconsciousness, and one throat had been slit. In all, Edmonson authorities arrested 14 people, and charged four dozen people from five states. The event, organized by country rapper Justin Time, took place in Blue Holler Offroad Park and drew a crowd of tens of thousands, doubling the population of the unincorporated town of Ollie, which is so small it does not have a stoplight. Redneck Rave promoters bragged that they had sold more than 20,000 tickets. The lengthy getdown, advertised as the "biggest country party you’ll ever go to,” boasted a demolition derby, goldfish racing, and a full-scale football game as well as a series of concerts. one man had been impaled, one woman had been strangled to the point of unconsciousness, and one throat had been slit

The UT researchers said that 67 sites, mostly gas refining and pipeline infrastructure locations around Texas, were allowed to sign up for a voluntary "emergency response” program coordinated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, which runs the state's power grid. Of those 67 locations receiving payments from ERCOT, at least five sites "later identified themselves to the electric utility as critical natural gas infrastructure,” according to the UT researchers. Yes, they were PAID to shut off gas supplies.
