Awful. Sounds like a special ed student, perhaps MR or with downs, caught a physically small teacher off guard knocking her down in a way that caused head trauma and a concussion.

I mention the MR/downs because 1. special ed and 2. correlates with emotional dysregulation.

The attack occurred at Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours in Ochopee, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. According to Wooten’s website, the attraction includes an animal sanctuary that features two tigers, two lions, otters, turtles, crocodiles and alligators.

 

A caretaker was feeding a tiger in its enclosure when another worker who wasn’t authorized to be with the tiger entered the enclosure, deputies said. The tiger attacked the 50-year-old man and caused injuries to both of his arms, officials said.

The man was transported to a hospital. Officials didn’t immediately disclose his condition.

 

 

The tiger’s caretaker was able to safely contain the big cat, officials said. The tiger was not injured.

In December, a custodial worker was mauled by a tiger at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens after entering an unauthorized area. A Collier County deputy shot the animal as its jaws were wrapped around the man’s arm.

Florida police are on the hunt for a man who appears in viral video throwing punches at a dog in the backseat of a car at a Fort Myers gas station, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

"We need to find him," Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers announced on social media Monday. "What he did is not OK."

Authorities said witnesses saw the unidentified man battering the dog in the back of a gold or tan Chrysler 200 at a RaceTrac gas station "somewhere in Fort Myers" on Tuesday, March 29.
