Road to Victory Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Howie Roseman on Video of Eagles' Awkward Draft Room: Emotions Are the Fun Part TIMOTHY RAPPAPRIL 30, 2021 Things got awkward in the Philadelphia Eagles draft room Friday night. After the team selected defensive lineman Milton Williams in the third round, video surfaced of general manager Howie Roseman cruising the room, giving out fist bumps. But when he made it to senior football advisor Tom Donahoe, he was met with a tepid bump and a scowl. Donahoe, it would seem, didn't love the selection. But Roseman downplayed the incident while speaking with reporters. "These guys spend all year scouting these guys and you get favorites, guys you feel strongly about, we all do," he said. "That's the fun part of being in the draft room, the emotions of it." "At the end of the day, Milton Williams is an exciting player for our football team," he added. "We're excited to have him. I don't want to take away from his day. We're all excited about that pick." It might have made for an awkward moment on video and provided some fun on Twitter, but the truth is that NFL draft rooms are likely full of disagreements about prospects and selections that don't get shown. The Eagles happened to have one at the wrong place and the wrong time on Friday.
UK_EaglesFan89 Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 I don't like Howie as much as the next guy but this feels like the media trying to create a story out of nothing? This will happen in every draft room on every team. Some will scout a player and love them, others will scout a player and not like what they see. We all do it as fans, we lock in to certain players and are disappointed when our team doesn't draft them. It's the same for the scouts and people within the organisation I'm sure.

Some reports claim we wanted Robinson and NY then snapped him up with pick 71 (after we traded back from 70 to 73). Other reports claim we wanted another DT ... Alim McNeill (who went to Detroit with pick 72). Allegedly Howie didn’t think they’d go DT because they went DT with the previous pick. Either way, it sounds as though Howie got cute thinking he was smarter than everyone else yet again and it backfired on him. Hence the exchange. Now those reports could be way off ... it would be completely understandable if Tom just doesn’t like Howie after watching him do his own thing despite the year round work of the scouts. 1

If Tom doesn't like Howie then he's like 95% of the fan base. Howie is a weasel. 1 1
