Posted May 2, 20214 yr Darius Slay is changing his jersey number The Eagles’ top cornerback will have a new look moving forward. By Brandon Lee Gowton@BrandonGowton May 1, 2021, 10:30am EDT Darius Slay is taking advantage of the NFL loosening their jersey number restrictions. The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback will no longer be wearing No. 24 and instead will be sporting the No. 2 jersey moving forward. John Clark reports Slay confirmed as much to him. Cody Benjamin was first to note on Friday evening that NFL Shop was selling No. 2 Slay jerseys. Slay previously expressed his interest in switching to No. 2 on Twitter. Miles Sanders also had an interest in that number but the veteran clearly won out. Slay has a history with No. 2; he wore it when he played junior college football at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi. A nice homage to his path up to the NFL. No. 2 was previously owned by Jalen Hurts, who switched to No. 1 this offseason. Our #JerseyNumberAnalytics model here at BGN indicates No. 2 is an OK number for Slay but No. 24 was already a strong look. It’s definitely going to be different seeing a single-digit player at cornerback. It’ll be interesting seeing No. 2 and No. 6 (DeVonta Smith) going up against each other in practice. https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2021/5/1/22414012/darius-slay-jersey-number-change-2-24-philadelphia-cornerback-news-uniform-college-nfl
May 3, 20214 yr There seems to be such a big deal made about jersey numbers and I don't really get why.
