Da new Dawk?

Needs some work but has the right approach to the game. I hope he makes it big. The Eagles need an impact player at Safety.

I think the team will have some decent competition at the second safety spot between Mills, Parks and this kid. It definitely gives them some more depth, and may allow them to keep Mills at outside corner if they struggle in that area.

I think this is probably my favorite pick and what I think is the best value pick they made as well. Wouldn't be shocked to see him on the field a fair amount as a rookie. Kid has a ton of confidence.

Wallace eventually becomes the starter during the season

I don't really know anything about college players as I don't watch college ball. I really have no concept of what's a good draft pick and what's a bad draft pick, except that I do like we addressed the position itself. That's usually my take on the draft: did we get a piece we need. I think we need a good safety, so hopefully this is the right guy

You are alone there bud. We all have varying degrees in interest in college football and we all have varying levels of being able to 'scout' or 'analyse players'. None of us really know who's going to do well, NFL scouts are very hit and miss to be fair. I like the Wallace pick but that's based on having seen slightly more breakdown tape on him and having heard his name mentioned more than others. I therefore have a bias towards him because I recognize the name.

These kids are analyzed to death......they get "draft grades" from every self proclaimed "expert" or "draft analyst".  They're also analyzed and graded by pro personnel people and scouts and those grades are usually kept secret.  Those grades are usually very different than the public ones used for mock drafts and the Mel Kipers of the sports media.

They're weighed, measured, timed and put thru a series of drills that are used for a spider graph.  They're given wonderlic tests..........they're watched on every game tape made from them playing in college.  They're interviewed, their college coaches and other players are asked about them and it's all put on some kind of matrix to slot them against every other player expected to be drafted or signed as an UDFA.

But the pros are astronomically different than playing in college......and the effect of that jump, is what they can't measure.  They also can't measure whether a kid has hit his developmental peak.  Emotional intelligence is difficult to determine.

That's why some are drafted high and fail, and some are drafted late and succeed.   Some go into ideal situations in the pros and some are drafted by lousy organizations, bad situations and lousy coaches.  Early draft picks are given multiple chances to prove their worth, while late draft picks have to prove it's worth keeping them a lot quicker.

This guy can play.  Great pick.

Well to a degree, as Chinn was one of the best options in the second. But they could have also taken Fulton or Espenesa there.

All these statements are pretty much impossible to know till the season plays out. God I hope not, but if Wentz gets hurt and Hurts does a great job stepping in we can;t say it was a waste. What if Wallace turns out better then Chinn in there systems?

Everything at this point of what was better etc is a mute point till min 1 season plays out. Better judge is 2-3 seasons.

Ive said it a million times, Do I think we reached on a lot of our picks? Yes. But, till it plays out I have to be open minded till I have something to judge it on at the next level.

Every draft pick has its risks.  But when we are talking about the qb position you have to have a plan b in this league and it doesnt come cheap or you end up with a 40 yr old qb who hasnt played in 3 years coming in to try and win a playoff game.

because the fo invested in the backup qb position, they had to reach on some picks.  Clearly they were prepared with a plan coming and.   If you look at the back end of the draft they graded out very well.

fans are pissed that they waited for months to see the eagles use a high pick to draft someone who likely wont see the field much  while dallas loaded up with talent.  I get it.  I also get that this FO is better at what they do than dallas and the results have spoke foe themselves for years

Any move that potentially keeps Mills off the field is a positive.

I was curious about #20’s view of the kid.  Thanks for the post

Wallace was apparently roommates with Dawk's son at Clemson... In case you wanted to feel old.

Yeah sounds like Dawk talks with the kid with some regularity. If he can come in with the right work ethic and have Dawk as a mentor? Who knows what he could turn into. Really intrigued with this one.

I'm glad to get a young safety in here. I really hope this kid works out.

K'Von said that he is friends with Brian's son. So, there's that connection.  K'Von's family went nuts when he was drafted by the Eagles. If you go to youtube, you can search it and see the reaction. It's great.

I think they were roommates. Families are tight I believe

I mean not really.I love this pick. But that doesn't change that the 2nd round pick was a wasted pick.
