I'm getting tired of hearing stats like "1 in 7 children in the US go to bed hungry".   If that's truly the case,  the parents of those 1 in 7 children should be going to jail for child abuse, imo.

There are approximately 50 million children in the US under the age of 18.  That would mean 7 million children in the US are suffering from hunger.  Is that true?  If so, why?

You're asking a question as old as time. The short answer is that people think having kids is a novelty or a hobby and don't really consider whether or not they're financially and emotionally capable of raising them. They do it for themselves, because they think having kids is a reflection of their self-worth or some marker of success in life, regardless of whether they have what it takes to adequately provide for them. People are generally irresponsible.

My cousin taught elementary school in Trenton.  Numerous times she would buy 2 or 3 bags of groceries and drop them off at her students homes. She had a few kids whose dad's were deported but the wife and kid were still here.

Lots of people just have kids that can't support them. And for me it's a dicey subject because I don't believe the goverment is responsible for supporting anyone, but at the same time it's not a child's fault or choice who their parents are and how responsible they are.

Telling someone this who has kids or wants them makes you look like an ass unfortunately. I've made these comments often with people that ask why I don't have kids or want them. I don't word it as well as you do though lol. I feel as though most people have kids for selfish irresponsible reasons. It's sad really, they don't care what they drag a child through.

People should spend money on private school instead of Eagles season tickets.

I judge the rich and the poor.

Stop restricting abortion, and start funding planned parenthood.
