The future of Trevon Grimes is uncertain in the NFL, and it looks like his time in Philadelphia has come to an end.

According to NFL communications, the Eagles waived the undrafted free agent off of the injured reserve with an injury settlement of his partially guaranteed contract.

Grimes underwent a knee procedure in early June and the injury was not believed to be serious in nature.

They must have known the surgery was required and what it was for when they gave him the guaranteed money, then kept him on the reserve list post surgery, then waived him with a settlement, how does it make sense to cut him now?  Unless the surgery was botched and he's done, maybe he's got Ajayi's knees

They don't need to start trimming the roster till August. Have we got someone else coming in?

It could be as simple as the player's doctor wants to monitor him rather then the team's doctor's. He can't do that while he is under contract.

If he reverted to the IR list after being waived, he wouldn't count against the 90 roster total such that they'd have to cut him to make room for someone else coming in thought, right?

Nah players on IR count against the 90.

Ahh, good to know, thanks for the clarification/correction.

If he is still recovering from knee surgery and unable to participate, then it is highly unlikely he will get picked up elsewhere any time soon.  So it makes sense to bring in a body that can participate in his place.

He's also free now to use any methods he chooses to enhance his recovery from surgery.

I'm sure I only read yesterday on here that we shouldn't rule Grimes out to still end up making this roster at some point (probably next year). I guess that's over before it started though.
