July 8, 20214 yr My son in elementary school just spent an entire year at home, logging onto the computer every day. Also I was teleworking right around the corner. I could hear everything the teacher was instructing in the classroom. I want to hear more about this Critical Race Theory being taught... Because none of it was in his curriculum. Also, on another subject, they still say the Pledge of Allegiance every day.

Our summer reading was Malcolm X’s autobiography. And in 11th grade my English teacher assigned Black Boy by Richard Wright.

As I’ve already said it’s not a secret that there are some bad teachers out there. But when I read between the lines the complaints usually boil down to people not wanting their kids to learn about slavery, segregation, and other awful aspects of American history. And when someone says they like "patriotic history” what they’re really saying is that they want kids to learn a white-washed version.

True, although there is certainly a concerted effort in this case that gives the issue more gravity. But it seems to me that this restricted to pockets of the country and particular communities, rather than something that's sweeping the nation. It's particuarly a west coast/urban movement. At least in PA, I don't see these themes gaining any traction in my local districts
