You had some idiot liberals setting up autonomous zones vs armed insurgents trying to stop the certification of the election. They stormed the Capitol, the first to do so since the British more than a hundred years before. They were feet from killing the vice-president. They tried to overthrow our government. Maybe that means nothing to you, but I served in the military and it bothers me deeply. You are entitled to your wrong opinion.

Democrats' problems are within normal historical parameters. Among elected Democrats there is still an acceptance of democratic norms. Elected Republicans - including THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES - rallied their supporters to march on the Capitol and try to overturn the will of the people. There are things you don't just both sides. This is absolutely one of them. The Republican party in its current form has actually attempted to overthrow our Republic. How about a little recognition that as bad as some Democrats might be, mainstream Republicans are at least regular visitors to crazy town? A smidgeon?

Do you recall who in here suggested shooting those loons as they stormed the Capital or should I remind you? May I also remind you that I'm the one who suggested the few remaining sane Republicans should take their chances with some form of new setup outside of formal interaction with the current Republican Party which is a total lost cause. There isn't any room at all for reason within the Republican side at this point.

I am in violent agreement with you and it goes without saying that the idiots on the right took things to an entirely different level. For example, there is clearly no equivalency between what happened at the Capital and what happened in say Portland and I've never ever once suggested that there was one. Quite the opposite. My point, badly presented, was that I think we need to be able to critique the problems on the left without the immediate "what about the other guy who is worse" comparison. Leaping to this concept of equivalency wasn't my doing.

That said, I believe that the "majority" of folks involved in the D.C. incident probably had no idea what they were getting themselves into (until it was too late) and by that point "mob mentality" took over and it was a free for all. Unfortunately, they let the most extreme radicals lead the way that day...and as a result, many are paying the consequences now. The irony is had this happened when many of them think "America was great" say, 50 -100 (or so) years ago, good chance some of them would have been hanged for treason. Same thing goes for the anarchists in Portland, although to a lesser extent, albeit different reasons as well, imo.

"Mob mentality" "Herd Mentality" etc has been around for quite some time. Some of the more extreme examples could be Jim Jones or even a more recent example of "cancel culture" (in some cases).

August 2, 20214 yr She's a whackadoodle. She's on my growing list of lunatics who I would send to a deserted island (or maybe Oklahoma, nobody cares about that state) and create a reality TV show around. Also on the list are: Tucker Carlson, Hannity, MTG, Ilhan Omar, Ben Garrison, basically anybody connected with DailyKos/Breitbart/OAN/Newsmax, the sycophants of the Trump administration.. I'm sure there are others..

A lot of these ideas start with good intentions and then the extra woke lunacy takes over.

A lot of these ideas start with good intentions and then the extra woke lunacy takes over. Yeah, there is clearly an element of white fragility that rings true. The problem is that when you layer on it and leverage it out to ridiculous proportions. Race identification is also self-perpetuating. The more we focus on it, the more it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy for some. Racism then comes full circle because now by focusing on it so damn hard it becomes the new racism, same as the old. I guess "some white folk are defensive about the benefits their whiteness gets them" isn't enough of a seller to achieve the levels of grift necessary.

I miss McCain... Straight from another comment section about Jan 6th: The liberators at the capitol building were right and for a few short hours the politicians feared the people instead of the people fearing the politicians. They were breaching a government building. The capitol. Why the capitol and not the local town hall? Because that is where they decide to allocate all the tax money taken from the people. and 4 unarmed protestors were shot and killed by police there. Then 20k national guard troops came in and were ready to kill American civilians. if you do not understand what the liberation of the capitol building meant. You never will. Go enlist and be cannon fodder. Then when you try to enslave American civilians. i will kill you. We have a large chunk of our own citizens who actually believe stupid sheet like this (NVM that it had nothing to do with taxes........).
