You know, Astronomy is a lot more fun when you're not an Astronomer.

Watching it in 4K is pretty cool

can we rename this thread the flatearther autonomous ridicule town thread ?

The deepest hole ever dug into the Earth by Man is only about 8 miles. That's about 0.2 percent of the distance to the center of the planet.

Yet, we claim to know, emphatically, about the make-up of worlds orders of magnitude beyond that calculation.

If science is about empiricism, at what point do we delineate theory and speculation from actual knowledge?

In another vein, can the limits of our instruments describe anything other than the borders of our ignorance?

What we can or cannot observe is inconsequential given that we know mathematics.

Mathematics is the programming language of the universe, therefore we can theorize correctly based on what of mathematics we know. What we speculate is of the mathematics we don’t know.

And what we cannot observe is never stated as fact.

This is where I think so many get tripped up. Take the big bang - while it is accepted as the premier theory on the creation of the universe, it is still a theory and can always be disproven and replaced.

A scientific theory is not what you think it means.

I find it hard to take seriously "scientific claims" reported by DailyMail. Especially when the page also reports scientific news like "Miley Cyrus reveals first time she had sex with a man.." and "Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez wows in a black thong bikini"

Yeah but also Tom Cruise actually let someone run next to him in a movie. The science on this site has to be legit.
