Picasso?

:flex:

Hope it means something good.

My intent earlier wasn't to entirely poo poo the report, but DailyMail seems like a poor delivery source for this kind of scientific data.

Honestly I'm not in a state to read it. Doing a virtual beer fest right now. I just hope this is as comprehensible to yous as it is to me.

What we can or cannot observe is inconsequential given that we know mathematics.

Mathematics is the programming language of the universe, therefore we can theorize correctly based on what of mathematics we know. What we speculate is of the mathematics we don’t know.

Mathematics can be manipulated to support incorrect theories, research the Lorentz Transformation Equations that supported Einstein's Relativity Hogwash.

I find it hard to take seriously "scientific claims" reported by DailyMail. Especially when the page also reports scientific news like "Miley Cyrus reveals first time she had sex with a man.." and "Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez wows in a black thong bikini"

To be fair though, she does

She should workout. Have to imagine he has better options

and that's the exact look I would get if she caught me looking

I don't know why this thread is in "conflicting views" but I think I found a home

If the past 4 years, and especially the last 8 months, has brought about a certain feeling in me, it's immensely deep sorrow that science has now become a conflicting view

It's pretty easy and, frankly, understandable to pin all that on the right - especially evangelicals, trumpers, and the like.

Just keep in mind that the woke crowd claims that logic and reason are constructs of the white patriarchy, and they call for the abolition of STEM in education. Those are just two examples, it gets worse. The left HAS to stand against that type of idiocy before it infects them the way it has the right.

No, I intend to do no such thing. The Trump cult, his truly devoted loyalists, are the ones thinking that masks don't work, that doctors and scientists are lying, and that this thing is a hoax. There are plenty of republicans who wear masks, understand science, live in reality, and aren't part of the cult. Plenty of Trump voters who think he's crazy, but are single-issue voters because of their pro-life stance, or they're worried about the economy or taxes or whatever. I have no problem with them as long as they can acknowledge objective fact over fiction. It's the cultists that treat politics as their religion, and have dangerously politicized science so much that simple objective truth has become a conflicting view.

Now you're just getting weird.

Back to science.

How about some open questions...

Was string theory falsified by CERN?

Is Karl Popper the man on the demarcation question?

Does P = NP?

Will I ever be able to make my own Kelly LeBrock in my basement?

Dont know sheete about science. Unless you consider electrical load calculations science.  To me a couple of basic mathematical equations  doesn't = science.

anyways, science could be the answer to pretty much all the worlds problems or be the death of us all except for the fact that science cant predict or stop a lunatic from getting into power and destroying us all.  Science couldnt have or would have stopped Adolf hitler from killing millions if innocent men, women, and children.

on the flip side, science ended WWII single handedly with the Atom bomb.  Without it, certainly both sides would have suffered far more casualties.  And now that that science is out of the box, it threatens mankind's survival.

at the end of the day... We, humans, are the guardians of good and the answer (backed by solid, unbiased science)to all our problems

What you're talking about is essentially the "Vulnerable World Hypothesis"

It's a long read, but you can get the gist from the intro

interesting stuff

Will read it tonight. Thanks

at the end of the day its mother earths we should be using science to benefit from 1st and foremost.  Not us as a species.  Shoot i think we can all agree we humans are in itself a virus, plague, what-have-you to the planet and all species on it that natural science will eventually figure out how to eradicate

we came from the earth and we will go back to it when we die.  It is our undisputed direct god.  And we are its stuarts now.  We should be willing to make the greatest sacrifices to insure it’s inhabitable survival

Herring can fart. I didn't know that before.
