Executive Order 2021,07, which takes effect immediately, was signed by Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi who sites large groups and "unsafe and disruptive behavior" as cause for the order. 

As a result, the beach will remained closed daily between the hours of 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. while the boardwalk will close daily between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. 

"The continuance of this order is to provide our local police department with the necessary authority to disperse large groups of individuals who are congregating in unmanageable numbers on public property which often results in unsafe and disruptive behavior", Mayor Pagliughi said.  "This unfortunate measure is a direct result of Governor Murphy’s destruction of effective enforcement of laws pertaining to juveniles, and the elimination of certain police powers."

As a drinker with smoker friends, I'm not sure it is teens and cannabis. Alcohol is the rowdy drug.

Of course, the real reason is the little pieces of filth don't have parents doing their damned jobs giving them everything and making them responsible for nothing.

Yea except teens getting wasted on the beach. Teens drinking and leaving behind bottles is nothing new. 

They are talking about punks being punks getting together in large gangs and acting tougher than they would alone. The point was made that parents need to do a better job. But some authority has been taken from parents. I remember being scared to death of my old man (still loved him though) and now no kid fears any authority figure.

I went to the Penn State wrestling camp in Cape May back when I was in high school.  During the day we would beat the hell out of each other and then at night they would unleash us onto the Cape May boardwalk.  Lol

Back then Penn State would have the occasional national champion. But Cael Sanderson took that team to a whole new level

Wait... So the beach was previously open all night? I always lived with rule-of-thumb that beaches were closed dusk-dawn. That's when the rake machines come out and do their business.

No, our generation didn't get it changed. Which is why in our youth, it was open until dawn.
