Jonathan Gannon is looking to form a swarming, attack-style defense during his tenure here in Philadelphia and Josh Sweat fits the mold perfect at right defensive end.

Despite saying that both Sweat and Derek Barnett are starters in his defense, it’s the former Florida State pass rusher that looks to benefit the most from Gannon’s new hybrid approach.

Both players are in contract years, and if the Eagles choose one to sign long-term, Sweat could have the edge presently.

Sweat has worked past the durability questions that plagued him coming out of college, and his 10 sacks the past two seasons despite never playing more than 40 percent of the snaps bold well for a breakout season.
