I was thinking the same thing. He at least would bring more arm strength to the table, as that was the selling point for him coming out of college: tall QB with a strong arm and some mobility. The big con was accuracy. Still thought his physical traits would have at least secured a late round flier from some team rather than going undrafted.

I think they want to make Jackson into a TE, and that’s fine, but I do wonder why they made Mullens their number 3 quarterback rather than just picking up a young kid for development. Ironically Nick supposedly was looking the best out of all the quarterbacks in practice. I guess game time ain’t practice time.

I'm praying that he can be a semblance of Prescott,

I hope not. We need a QB that can stay healthy and win more than 1 playoff game before they become injury prone, start to decline and begin missing big chunks of back to back seasons after getting a big payday.

Jamie Newman was regarded as a QB with serious 1st round upside based on potential in 2019 before he sat out the 2020 season due to COVID. The Eagles picked him up after he went undrafted but ended up cutting him. Not sure if there's anything off the field involved or if it was just him not being good enough to warrant a roster spot. He's still a free agent and probably at least has more upside than Mullens at this point. Flacco already has the QB2 spot locked down as the veteran of the group. You could probably do a lot worse than Newman at QB3 and he would fit in the "young developmental QB" mold.

Would have preferred they kept that kid. Not sure why they made the move to Nick anyway.

Certainly want a quarterback who is capable of staying on the field. We have had enough durability issues. The Eagles have been dealing with quarterbacks who can’t stay healthy since the Cunningham era. It would be nice to see a guy just play and not spend seasons hoping the backup guy gets the job done.

Because "Big Pick Nick" is a cool nick name.

Not saying it was you, but I’ve seen it around. I still don’t get why the Eagles signed the guy at all.
