Jay Inslee expanded his COVID-19 vaccination order to K-12 and higher education employees on Wednesday, Washington’s vaccine mandate ranked among the most sweeping and strict in the nation. Most governors who have imposed such mandates have built in wiggle room, allowing public employees and health care workers to undergo regular coronavirus tests if they choose not to get vaccinated. Inslee’s orders offer no such slack. Employees at state agencies, schools and universities must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18 or face termination. Inoculations also will be a condition of employment for hundreds of thousands of people working in nursing homes, daycare, and long-term care facilities. The U.S. remains polarized over vaccine mandates even amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations driven by the highly transmissible delta variant. Republican-led states have mostly avoided such orders — with some explicitly banning local mandates — while Democratic governors, like Inslee, have been more willing to impose them. In all, 21 states and the District of Columbia have some form of COVID-19 vaccine mandate, according to a tracker maintained by the national employment law firm Littler Mendelson. They vary in scope, with some aimed narrowly at nursing homes and other vulnerable health care settings, and others affecting all state employees. Most of the states with vaccine mandates, unlike Washington, allow employees who do not qualify for religious or medical exemptions to submit to frequent testing in lieu of vaccination. And the scope of Inslee’s order is also broader than other states — applying even to state contractors. I love it. The mandate is great, the meltdown is better.

The science would have to show the other deaths are related - -and there is no evidence. Why is science so hard for you? The reported deaths had nothing to do with the vaccine if you read the report. That's like saying, I had a polio vaccine when I was 3 -- but since i died yesterday at 50 years old, it must be related to the polio vaccine. What is your fear? Where did it come from? Do you need therapy? What other things frighten you?

August 19, 20214 yr They shouldn’t have to make a vaccine mandatory. Honestly it’s common sense. If you’re someone who’s unvaccinated and who lives in a state with low vaccination rates where there are no available hospital beds, just know that if someone has a stroke that you’re part of the reason there’s not a hospital bed available for that person.

As evident by the election of Trump in 2016 -- most Americans lack common sense.

Don't see why someone that has a stroke should be punished because irresponsible, conspiracy morons are so far down the rabbit hole that they ignore all commons sense.

We got our first contract for work at a correctional facility. Part of the contract language "all subcontractors who enter our facility need to provide proof they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19" Our owner expects all school projects in Washington State will contain similar contract language by the end of September.

August 24, 20214 yr Republicans should be joyous. Capitalism working as it should. Private business acting in the interest of the common good, which in this case is aligned with their own interests. This is actually how its supposed to work.

That right, private business deciding what is best for them and taking measures they deem necessary. Republicans are not joyous, for the most part, because they are no longer conservative, except in name. They want government spending, on walls. They don't care if the presidents diverts money with a pen and an executive order. Their object to EO is content based. They love when their guy does it for their reasons. They do not support private business, like Twitter banning people for violating their TOS. Although they don't believe bakers should have to make cakes with gay writing, they do believe Twitter needs to allow right wing people to promote violence there.
