This place was a good compromise because the development has a really nice pool area that is easily walkable from our house. You're better off. I had a pool put in our previous house in PA (that you don't want to do). This one has an HOA pool. It's so much better not having to take care of it, and its more cost effective as well. You can spend 3k a summer on pool maintenance easy.

July 28, 20223 yr Couldn't be happier working for solar/battery storage development. Going to be a great boost to the economy in the long run. Solar has already lead all industries in high pay job creation in recent years.

July 28, 20223 yr I love having a pool. Always something to do when in season. The amount of impromptu nonsense that has gone on here since we moved in has been delightful. New deck and hot tub construction beginning the day after we close the pool.

July 28, 20223 yr Other good news from the Act, the EV tax credits will come back for Tesla, GM and Toyota! Slight differences on amounts and how to qualify, but still great news. One will also be able to get the credit immediately at point of sale rather than waiting for the credit at tax time.

I saw this but didn’t know the boldest. So you could in theory apply it to the purchase price then? That would be awesome because for those that finance will have lower monthly payments. I also saw that they will give a lesser credit for purchasing a used EV.

August 1, 20223 yr Author As of Friday, we are now online and backfeeding to the grid. Still don't have a net meter so I'm not getting credit yet. So of course I'm taking advantage of all the "free" excess electricity and am on a clothes washing spree.

At minimum I know the only pee in the pool (probably) came from people who live with me. I've also never spent $3k just on maintenance, what the hell kind of setup did you have? Ours is about 25k gallons, so not super big, and we have it calibrated so that maintenance most weeks is dropping new tablets in the chlorinator. Polaris takes care of the leaves that drop in. Maintenance is so easy I have been putting off a conversion to salt for years.

Got a new one last winter after the old one took a crap. We use it in the winter a lot more than the summer. I like using it on Thanksgiving day. You know, just like the pilgrims did.

Back then we would get a lot of rain in May and early June so we’d have to shock it several times to keep the water clear. It was a big one but I don’t recall how many gallons

I like using it on Thanksgiving day. You know, just like the pilgrims did. Yeah that's why its next on the list. Deck needs to be redone, so we are adding second deck at a lower level for the hot tub, a gas fireplace and a nice outside sectional to make a "chill out" area. The the upper section will stay the same size for all my grills and BBQ stuff. Have to wait for the pool to be closed because the deck is built off the kitchen and it's the only back door.

We paid 350 for opening and 350 for closing. I have the same thoughts on salt water as you do, the chems have not been difficult or expensive in the two years we have had it. I usually put a half gallon of shock in it and run the filter a bit longer after we have bbqs or whatever with a lot of guests using it. Other than that I just keep the chlorinator full and add calcium, pH up and alkalinity up when needed, usually after rain. I did have to buy a new cover this year as the old one was shot and that was about 3G.
August 1, 20223 yr Just got this out of office reply to an email Quote Hello, Thank you for your email. Our office is closed today August 1st in observance of our Civic Holiday. Our office will also be closed on August 2, 2022 as we undergo a transformation to commission two Battery Energy Storage Solutions in partnership with Aypa Power, Honeywell and SunGrid. These two independent solutions will allow us to: 1. Time shift our energy load to take advantage of renewable energy resources; Solar is most effective in between the morning and evening peaks, and wind resources primarily generate and peak overnight. 2. Offset the demand from peak, thereby reducing our reliance on fossil fueled generation (i.e.. Natural Gas Peaker Plants); and 3. Achieve higher overall transmission and distribution efficiency by shifting our energy load off-peak requiring less overall generation as transmission line efficiency decreases with increasing load and associated conductor heating. We are excited for this project to take shape as we advance our sustainability efforts and will be back online to support you on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. If the matter is urgent, please reach out to your sales rep. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this closure required to ensure the utmost safety for our crew. All emails will be responded to upon my return to the office Wednesday.
August 3, 20223 yr Author Not related to the solar project but since we talked about it here..... .... still waiting on my 2022 Mach-E order to be assigned. Problem is, on 8/15, they will be opening orders for the 2023 Mach-E, so we will likely be pushed to that model year. I doubt there will be an ice white package for that year since they made it seem like a one time thing but there is rumored to be an all black package. Dunno. Anyway, I bring this up not to talk about trim packages but the battery. It appears the 2023 Mach-E will start using the LFP battery. LFP batteries are not as energy dense as lithium ions, HOWEVER they are much safer, much more durable (you are not restricted to the 20-80% charge range) and last 4x as long. And if I am reading the tea-leaves right, they will open up bi-directional charging for the Mach-E, something only their Lightening offers right now.
September 20, 20223 yr Author On Friday, Peco finally moved me into the next phase and put me in the queue for my net meter. The solar company warned me it could take up to 2 months due to shortages so hang tight. Instead I text'd schmoopies brother who works for PECO this morning, he talked to his foreman and it sounds like they are coming out today
September 20, 20223 yr Any chance you can summarize the costs and general process (or just resources) for this? Betting that financing will be a bit more challenging than it was before the rate hikes, but at some point I want to get this looked into.

Costs will be tricky because I got a battery and the panels\inverters were changed\upgraded from the initial quote so I don't know if I have a clear breakdown. General process\resources what were you curious about? You can also hit me up via PM if you want.
August 8, 20232 yr Met with a guy last night night to talk about going solar. He was a middle school science teacher that took early retirement and now sells solar systems. His was the best sounding deal that I’ve seen yet… with the over-design of the panels we’d be looking at cost savings starting at year 1. Financing rate through his company was 3.99% but they have an additional "dealer fee” that gets added to the price of the panels if you finance through the company. Price would be cut considerably if we went with our own financing (thinking possibly a home equity loan) but I’d have to look into how the rates would compare and how it would work out financially. We are also 5-10 years from needing a new roof so we’d also need to look at rolling that cost into this project as well which would increase the total investment. salesman showed me the power output history of his panels that he’s had on his house for 10 years and I was surprised that the loss of efficiency was actually less than claimed when he got the panels and that was with 10-year-old technology.
