Today the 4cyl ecoboost is faster than the 6cyl. And I thought they've actually  discontinued the 6cyl mow.

I just got a Jeep with a 6 cylinder... Love it, haven't had anything but the newer 4 cylinders the last 20 yrs which pack a lot of power but, the 6 is still so smooth.

Installer Inspection - No issues

HOA - Approved

Peco Permits - Finished

Supplier - Good to go

Everything is ready to install.  What could go wrong, right?  Peco just informed our installer that they are out of net meters :facepalm:

I offered to either call one of my brothers in law who work for Peco to raid the supply closet or go direct to the meter manufacturers (I actually have contacts through my AMI work) to get me my damn net meter.  Our installer told me to stay out of it :lol:

That's awesome!   We are looking at getting solar panels on our roof.  Currently shopping around.  Talked to two companies so far, and have a third call scheduled for tomorrow.

Good luck man!  Feel free to pick my brain.

So one thing I'm finding is that the financial institutions are charging a pretty outrageous fee for the financing.  Low interest rates, yes, but ridiculously high premium to use their financing.  Looks like they are using the fed income tax credit to their advantage to charge a high premium, knowing that people are going to roll the tax credit back into the payment for the panels to keep their monthly payment the same.   The cash prices they are offering are literally 26% lower than the finance option.   Looks like it would be better to take out a HELOC, that way I'd have a lower principal and be able to pay it down quicker .

Our rate was virtually 0% with a $3000 financing charge on a project over $70,000.  So if it was 1% financing with no charges, the 0% still worked better for us.

Oh nice.    Did you get a new roof at the same time as well?

No, our roof was only 2-3 years old when we bought the house last fall.

That contact I sent you went to bat for that financing for us, fwiw.

Ahh nice. Yeah ours is 18 years old and has the old roof under it, so we were thinking it would need to be replaced in a few years anyway.  So we’d be doing the roof as well.

Are the companies you are looking at do both?

So far the two I have talked with, yes.

Neighbor just put on a Tesla solar roof.  Don't love the way it looks, especially contrasted against the older new England cottage vibe his house has. They'd look real dumb on my cedar shake house. Still compared to raised panels I see the appeal. Would fit a more modern home with light siding well i suppose. I'll have to ask him how he likes em after he goes through a whole season.

The guys are over now installing the bracket for my panels and the wiring for the batteries.  With any luck, they may be done tomorrow.  After that, 2-4 weeks to turn them on.

So of course I see this in my feed:

Pennsylvania electricity rates are going up starting June 1 | Here's what you can do

Power companies are about to pass along to consumers major price increases.
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Customers across Pennsylvania will see sharp increases in energy costs starting Wednesday.

Prices in some parts of the Keystone State are soaring as much as 46%.
Power companies are about to pass along to consumers major price increases beginning June 1.

Many electricity bills will go up, but by how much will vary widely.

Experts say there are ways to save, but you need to act now.

"The supply charge makes up half of the bill, the other half of that bill is the distribution charge. That's really how we get electricity from the poles and wires into your home," said Greg Smore of PECO.

It's the cost of the supply that's rising. Electric charges for PECO customers will go up 8.1%, the smallest increase in the state.

If you're a PPL customer, that electricity charge is going up 38%.

"So it'll come out to a residential customer, who uses roughly 1,000 kilowatts of electricity a month, about $34 a month," said Jane George of PPL Electric. "We provide the electricity to them at the same price that we purchase it. We make no profit on the electricity we provide to customers, which is why we always tell our customers it's important to shop for their electricity."

If you're a customer of a third-party supplier, your bill will not be impacted.

Pennsylvania consumers can also take advantage of something called the "standard offer."
"It's an option for customers to receive 7% off of the current price to compare. And that's when they enroll with a participating electric generation supplier," said Smore.

That 7% discount is locked in through 12 billing cycles. You can elect to switch at any time without penalty.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, which oversees nearly 7,000 utilities across the state, released the list of increases to its website.

"Beginning June 1, most Pennsylvania regulated electric utilities are adjusting the price they charge for the generation portion of customers' bills for non-shopping customers, also known as the "Price to Compare" (PTC). The PTC averages 40% to 60% of the customer's total utility bill. However, this percent varies by utility and by the level of individual customer usage," the Commission said.

Here's the full breakdown from PUC:

  • Citizens' Electric, up from 7.3995 cents to 9.3667 cents per kWh (26.6%);
  • Duquesne Light, up from 7.98 cents to an estimated 9.36 cents per kWh (17.3%);
  • Met-Ed, up from 6.832 cents to 7.936 cents per kWh (16.1%);
  • PECO, up from 7.066 cents to 7.637 cents per kWh (8.1%);
  • Penelec, up from 6.232 cents to 8.443 cents per kWh (35.4%);
  • Penn Power, up from 7.082 cents to 8.694 cents per kWh (22.7%);
  • PPL, up from 8.941 cents to 12.366 cents per kWh (38.3%);
  • UGI Electric, up from 8.854 cents to 12.903 cents per kWh (45.7%);
  • Wellsboro Electric, up from 7.7569 cents to 9.592 cents per kWh (23.7%); and
  • West Penn Power, up from 5.667 cents to 8.198 cents per kWh (44.6%).

Wow.  At least I'm not in PPL territory.   Good luck with everything paco.

My dad is.  Sent him the info.  I'm not sure if they allow 3rd party suppliers, but I offered to look into that for him.

Funny thing is, I did a project for them not too long ago and I know their whole IT department.  I may have to shoot them an email.  All PP&L does anymore is Meter and Bill :lol:

Friday was day 2 of the install.  Inverters and battery mounted and wire ran.  Monday the panels are going up and everything will be wired together.   Then I get to wait on peco, again.
