If there's one thing the world needs, it's more arguments about COVID. you would think we could agree that a virus that has conservatively killed 7M people worldwide over the past few years could be referred to as "very deadly", but I guess some people think differently.

Are you trying to treat every variant as a new virus? At this point I'm not sure what you're arguing. Despite a lower death rate than other viruses, it had a relatively high transmission rate compared to those others mentioned which is why it was still deadly in nominal terms. So is it deadly (I agree) or very deadly? There is still a lot of data to be reviewed until a full understanding of what worked and what didn't work is attained. For the record, I have argued against the conspiracy theories regarding the vaccine. It was absolutely necessary despite disagreeing over the mandate. Took advantage of existing vaccine work for SARS, thus the speed of development. Lab leak is possible. Bioengineered, no. COVID is the unfortunate consequence of living on a planet where simple organisms can outevolve human immunity which has happened over history and will happen again. When viewed in that context, I have a problem with the label "very deadly".

Funny how the slope was relatively constant until omnicron. And for the record the WHO statistics for 2021 don't end on 31 December. Oh no!!!! Wgb is wrong again!

Again, Omicron deaths were mostly in 2022. You are thoroughly incompetent. Bad at English, Math, reading a calendar, and Lord knows what else. Lets see how many more fails can you stack up in one day.

In the US, the delta spike was in decline in the fall and the spike due to omicron started in December.

Yes, Delta was the deadlier variant and killed more people in 2021 than Omicron did that year because of how late Omciron emerged as I already stated. How any of this matters at all in your inane rambling argument is anyone's guess, but I'm more than amused to see you fumble around and continue to make a complete ass of yourself on the subject.

The point was the spike due to Omicron at the end of the year which in an increase to over 5% from the relatively stable 3.5% to 3.6%. With the total number of deaths per week doubling in the last month and a half. Further with the drop in rate during the fall, you can see when a change happened. 4 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said: BBE called in for backup and this is what he got No, I didn't call for backup.

Delta was a far bigger contributor to the 2021 death toll than Omicron was but it's irrelevant either way because Omicron is still covid, it's not a different virus. And again I'll ask whether HIV killed more people in 2004 than covid did in 2021 because you keep evading that for some odd reason...
