I'm very much enjoying that Dirty Clowney still doesn't have a job.....

Clowney had 10.5 sacks in 31 games his first 3 years.  Barnett has 14 in 35 games.  Clowney hit his peak of 9.5 sacks at age 24, Barnett will be 24 this year.  I'm not against adding Clowney, he is a legit NFL pass rusher and there isn't an NFl team in the league he couldn't log snaps on.  But the argument that he is a hands down better player than Barnett is questionable at best.

If sacks is the only metric you use to measure a DE's worth in today's NFL then I suppose you could come to that conclusion. I'd urge you to look objectively at a few other stats like tackles, qb hits av, and tackles for a loss as well. Take the green colored classes off and you might come to another conclusion. Or not, if you want to think Barnett is just as good as Clowney I'm not going to argue with you because it's dumb.

They're all players in the same league with different stickers on their helmets. It's amazing what a sticker will do some peoples' objectivity.

I'm pretty sure it gets even worse for Clowney when you look at peripherals and run defense.  Barnett had 22 Qb hits last year, more than Clowney has EVER had in a single season.

Clowney has 2 good seasons out of 5, he's a good player with a higher ceiling than Barnett. Those two seasons are better than anything Barnett has done so far.  But the data suggests Barnett has a slight edge on being the better player in 2020.

I was gonna post the same. Barnett was better in those stats as well. Actually a lot better

Giving big money to underachievers almost never works out. It’s funny Clowney was the first one to be hurt by this fact.

I looked at sacks because that’s the biggest job of a DE.

But as others pointed out, Barnett outproduced Clowney in basically all of the categories you just listed. I’d urge you yourself to actually look at the stats that you told me to look at.

Nothing to do with being a homer. I think Barnett is good, not great. I also think Clowney is good, not great. Difference is I see Barnett as a guy willing to work to be better, whereas Clowney has ALWAYS had questions around his work ethic, dating back to when he was in college.

I think you are buying into a whole lot of hype that he’s received since the day he was drafted rather than looking at his actual production. He is quite possibly the most overrated defensive player in the NFL. At least by fans and media... clearly NFL GMs know what he is, which is why he still doesn’t have a job at his insane asking price.

Coming from the biggest Wentz hating troll on this board he might like him because he knocked out Wentz. Hes the only one I've ever put on ignore.

I'd urge you to post some numbers to support your argument. I have yet to see anything. Since nobody wants to post any I'll go first.

Barnett: Solo tackles first 3 years played 18, 11, 25

Clowney: Solo tackles first 3 years played, 27, 40, 41

Barnett: TFL first 3 years played 8, 5, 10

Clowney: TFL first 3 years played 8, 16, 21

There's more but why bother? Clearly Barnett is the best, just like every other Eagles player on the roster. Enjoy your weekend Homers.

What homers? Nobody here is claiming Barnett to be great. Just that Clowney is not great either. This league is about what have you done for me lately, so we are looking at LAST season, where Barnett had the better season.

Again, just saying Barnett was better than Clowney last year is not being a homer, it’s stating a fact. There are a ton of DEs I would take over Barnett, Clowney just isn’t one of them. So how does that make me a homer?
