No Tuesday or Wednesday games?!  I thought I lost you forever Wally when the old boards closed down!

Anyway I am not sure what to believe there have been reports that weeks 1-4 are going to be NFC vs. AFC matchups but then there's a leak containing the whole entire bucs schedule that has them opening up against ATL on MNF.  I guess we'll find out officially tonight!

I heard the same thing, with it likely in case the season has to be truncated to 12 games.

Eagles/saints week 14

Wally,

Thanks for the effort to put this out there, and for all your attention to scheduling and broadcast issues.  One problem, though, is that I think you did not consider that the NFL is developing a schedule that could be truncated, if need be.  The first four weeks are not expected to have any divisional games in case the season is delayed and if they need to contract to 14 or 12 weeks (without byes).  We won't see Dallas or the Redskins in the first 4 weeks.

I noted this was a pre-pandemic schedule and simply was bringing it over.  Who knows what the actual schedule will be, especially since the NFL might have to also face the possibility of not starting until January, especially if California bars sporting events to take place in-state until then.

So Green bay and Saints back to back? Awesome!

Sounds like eagles @ skins week 1.

birds @ packers week 13 is what I’ve seen

Also heard Eagles-Redskins as it was also reported it would be Giants-Cowboys in Week 1 with such being all division games.  NFL may do that in case this winds up having to be pushed back to the end of the season.

Had also heard earlier on 98.7 ESPN New York that Eagles-Skins will be SNF in Week 1.

If it is in DC, this says MLB informed the NFL that any revised schedule to salvage the 2020 MLB season would have the Phillies at home (for those unaware, if MLB has a season in 2020, there will be no leagues with three 10-team divisions with ONLY divisional games to cut down on travel, with the Phillies in a division with the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Orioles, Nationals, Marlins, Rays, Pirates and Blue Jays.

You're already wrong week 1

I heard 1 pm for week 1.  We’ll see in 15 mins

That game would be played on Sunday 12/13.

Assuming the leak is accurate, that means the Army/Navy game and the Saints/Eagles game will be played at the Linc on back-to-back days, similar to how the Eagles hosted the Bills the day after the Army/Navy game in 2015.  I know Jeff Lurie does not like to have the Eagles play at home the same weekend as the Army/Navy game.

I like having a mini bye before Dallas.

I wonder how wally feels knowing that he is wrong 98 percent of the time with the stuff he says but he keeps checking in from the basement in the rear hopes he gets one right.
I especially love how he connects things that are not even there and shares it like he has some major news or insight using metrics that he totally makes up.

"so you’re saying there’s a chance.”

This one I knew I was going to be wrong from the get-go because that schedule was written BEFORE we knew how devastating the pandemic would be.

A lot of the scheduling I thought would happen got thrown out the window because MLB is having to completely re-do their schedule to accommodate a delayed season that could go through late October with the playoffs in November and ending at Thanksgiving with the World Series.  The NFL also has to allow for some of the early weeks to have to be pushed back to the end of the regular season in this case.  The NFL also has to IMO accommodate potentially having to move the entire season to a January start if some states bar sporting events of any kind to take place before then with California coming to mind in that regard.

It was also noted the NFL had ALL bye weeks tied to their week 2 opponents in case there were delays that allow for four weeks of such and the Super Bowl still taking place no later than February 28.

Heart says undefeated!!!

Head says 11-5 if healthy.

And what about every year before this one? :P

Point was, this one had zero chance of being right, especially with MLB having to re-do their entire schedule to accommodate a one-year only format and a season that now is going to the end of October with playoffs in November.

One other thing I think the NFL had to take into account:

The possibility of games being shifted from Sunday afternoon to Saturday afternoon/night if there is no college football for at least part of this fall.

There is a possibility if there is no college football until January or February there will be games at 1:00, 4:30 and 8:15 PM on Saturdays during the fall.

I feel like there will be college football this year. Full schedule

I suspect if some schools are unable to go, you will see the attorney generals in those states threaten to come after the NCAA and the conferences unless the NCAA and/or conferences agree to hold off on CFB until ALL schools are able to go.

We could see this happen with California possibly not able to return to playing ANY sporting events AT ALL until January.

There has been talk that because a considerable number of schools may be unable to have college football this fall, the NFL would move some games from Sunday to Saturday to fill that void.  With that in mind, there are some games slated in particular for singleheader slots on Sundays that normally would not make sense, but I think the NFL is exploring the possibility of actually having Saturday games, possibly at 1:00, 4:30 and 8:15 PM this fall most likely between CBS, FOX and NFL Network (most likely if every week, NFL Network at 1:00 with CBS and FOX alternating the two late slots) with some exceptions when FOX has MLB Playoff games in most likely November.

These are the Eagles games that to me are most likely candidates to be moved to Saturday afternoon or night depending on importance:

Week 2 vs Rams on FOX, moving from Sunday 9/20 at 1:00 PM to Saturday 9/19 at 8:15 PM, still on FOX

Week 3 vs. Bengals on CBS, moving from Sunday 9/27 at 1:00 PM to Saturday 9/26 at 1:00 PM and to NFL Network (FOX locally).

Week 6 vs. Ravens on CBS, moving from Sunday 10/18 at 1:00 PM to Saturday 10/17 at 8:15 PM, still on CBS

Week 11 at Browns on FOX, moving from Sunday 11/22 at 1:00 PM to Saturday 11/21 at 1:00 or 4:30 PM, still on FOX (likely day of World Series Game 4)

While this may not happen, this I believe was baked into the NFL schedule in case there is no college football this fall.

Carrying over from the old board this thread.  Obviously, this was written before we knew about the Coronavirus and how much it has changed everything but I am carrying it over in tact from the old board.

For those who don't know, these are the Eagles opponents in 2020:

Full Divisions: AFC North and NFC West
NFC Division Winners (since we won our division): vs. NFC South, at NFC North

Home: Bengals, Ravens, Rams, Seahawks, Saints, CowboysGiantsRedskins

Away: Browns, Steelers, 49ers, Cardinals, Packers, CowboysGiantsRedskins

Keep in mind the following (and I have to keep this in because until we hear otherwise MLB will likely try to maintain as much of the original schedule as possible, though I'm sure the NFL may be working with MLB as MLB could wind up running MUCH later than normal due to the virus):

Eagles likely must open at home Sunday 9/13 since the Phillies are on the road at the Braves that day and while they could open Monday 9/14, that's an off day for the Phils that likely has to be kept in reserve in case the Phils have to make up a home rainout that day.

Eagles can only play at home on Thursday 9/17 in Week 2 (otherwise they must play on the road), and that again likely has to be held in reserve in case the Phils have to make up a home rainout that day.

Eagles can play at home in Week 3 on Sunday 9/27 only as the Phillies finish the regular season at Nationals Park against the Nationals (Monday 9/28 has to be held in reserve in case a rainout makeup or one-game playoff has to be played that day, Thursday 9/24 is a 4:05 game against the Mets).

Eagles likely will be on the road Weeks 4-6 as I suspect the NFL will again assume the Phillies make the MLB Playoffs.

With that in mind:

Week 1: Sunday 9/13 vs. Seahawks, 8:20 PM ET on NBC (This to me is the first part of a three-part make-up to the Eagles for this past season's Week 12 flex-out that if had not been done could have resulted in unintended consequences for CBS and the NFL due to the political climate we are currently in, this is also possible because the Mariners are at home that day so the Seahawks must open on the road unless they win it all).

Week 2: Sunday 9/20 at Redskins, 1:00 PM ET on FOX

Week 3: Sunday 9/27 vs. Bengals, 1:00 PM ET on CBS

Week 4: Sunday 10/4 at Cowboys, 4:25 PM ET on FOX

Week 5: Sunday 10/11 at Cardinals, 4:05 or 4:25 PM ET on FOX

Week 6: Sunday 10/18 at 49ers, 4:25 PM ET on CBS (I suspect this will be a cross-flex as the main late game that week on CBS, I have it where the Eagles spend both the week before and after the Cardinals game in Arizona, allowing for such a road trip)

Week 7: Sunday 10/25 BYE WEEK (this stretch gives MLB complete control over the MLB playoff schedule if the Phillies did get to the World Series).

Week 8: Sunday 11/1 vs. Saints, 4:25 PM ET on FOX

Week 9: Sunday 11/8 at Packers, 8:20 PM ET on NBC

Week 10: Monday 11/16 at Browns, 8:15 PM ET on ESPN

Week 11: Sunday 11/22 vs. Redskins, 1:00 PM ET on FOX

Week 12: Thursday 11/26 (Thanksgiving) vs. Ravens, 8:20 PM ET on NBC (second part of a three-part make-up of this past season's Week 12 flexout)

Week 13: Thursday 12/3 vs. Cowboys, 8:20 PM ET on FOX (possibly FOX only, as we discovered this season FOX does have the right to do an exclusive Thursday Night game without NFL Network as did happen one week this season during a dispute between FOX and Dish Network, this the third part of a three-part makeup of the week 12 flexout)

Week 14: Sunday 12/13 at Giants, 1:00 PM ET on FOX

Week 15: Sunday 12/20 at Steelers, 4:25 PM ET on CBS (cross-flexed from FOX)

Week 16: Sunday 12/27 vs. Rams, 4:25 PM ET on FOX

Week 17: Sunday 1/3 vs. Giants, Time and Network TBD

Brutal stretch to start but I do have the Eagles finishing with five-of-seven at home and after Week 10 only plane ride is in-state to Pittsburgh.

And I knew I would not be as noted because that schedule was written NOT KNOWING THERE WAS GOING TO BE A PANDEMIC screwing everything up (schedule predictions were brought over from the old board)!!

That schedule was based on factors that have for the most part been thrown out the window, especially because the MLB schedule is having to be completely re-done because of changes for this year caused by the virus.

That's the real test a rough stretch.

So you would’ve nailed half the schedule if there wasn’t a pandemic?

Why do we have to go to Green Bay this year? It's their turn to come here. We went there last year.

Intraconference matchups are a combination of rotational ones in which we play every team from another division every three years by alternating home/away, and then there are two other intraconference opponents decided by the previous years' standings. This year, we pay GB away and NO at home because we both finished first in our respective divisions last year. We also played in NO last time we went there, so I guess it's gotta be one or the other either way. Although, NO was two years ago. I haven't been able to find a rule for this unusual scenario, so I do wonder how it's determined.
