Posted April 28, 20205 yr Saw this earlier and thought it was rather interesting. May be nothing, we have to take these insiders with a pinch of salt but it's an interesting idea. I mean I think it's somewhat crazy but it's creative. It's asking a lot of the kid though to learn to be back up QB, gimmick player and potentially a RB. How do we see this all playing out?
April 28, 20205 yr This is what came to my mind when we picked him. Hurts is really strong. I could see him being our big back. You could pitch it to him outside and he could either run or throw the ball. If he is a legit runner it would open up all kings of run/pass play designs out wide.
April 28, 20205 yr I think his position will be "offensive weapon" initially (to be used in a variety of ways) and potentially eventually as backup QB. He won't be ready for the latter role this upcoming season - they have some work to do with him first.

But I do feel like he needs to be out there for say 15-20 snaps a game in a variety of roles to really start to justify this.

Hey UK - there's a link to the actual article down there in the tweet. Better to post the whole thing if you can. But as we don't have the original EMB NSDAPs overseeing us here, so I'm just pointing it out as a suggestion.

Depends on what packages they plan to install. Hurts isn't a little guy... runs with power. You may have both him and Sanders in the backfield at times making the QB a viable threat as a runner.
April 29, 20205 yr I have no expectations Year 1 so I won't get disappointed. But I think they may script some trick plays or options utilizing Hurts. Maybe teach him some Wildcat offense. I don't think he's inserted into the lineup as goal-line RB, but he could have some plays in that situation. I think they will ultimately develop him so that he can backup QB and potentially start games Year 2.
April 29, 20205 yr I wonder how the player himself, who is aspiring to a career in the NFL as a QB, is going to respond to being used as a RB, along with the injury risk that comes with that...

April 29, 20205 yr I suppose it beats having Carson run head long into a pile of 300lb linemen on every 4th and inches or 3rd and 1.

April 30, 20205 yr So let me see if I understand this... Wentz hasn't been able to finish the season the last 3 years, and his injury history was a concern leading us to draft Hurts, who we now plan to play in the position that has the shortest shelf life for an NFL player?
