So sad.  I worked the overnight shift in a lab for a few years in the mid 2000s.  I would listen to his show start to finish every night.  Snack time, the birthday shout outs, the whole bit.

"When you're smiling...oh when you're smiling.  The whole world smiles with you..." :groovy:

Sad. I loved turning him on late at night no the way home.

RIP

Like you, years ago I had an overnight job where I would listen to him and I enjoyed his show.  He would mix sports with almost anything else.  I liked his love of music.  He once talked about how he visited England and went to both London and Liverpool (the latter mostly for his love of The Beatles) and how Liverpool reminded him of Philly.  And one night a married woman called in to talk about how her and her husband go out to bars to find a girl to bring home and he even waived off the producer trying to interrupt him for a commercial break and he was like "I need to hear this story to it's end".  And his thing for Gina Gershon.  How if his wife fell down a well his first call would be to Gina Gershon and not emergency services.  Over the top theatrics, but funny.

Only 68yo.

I honestly never understood this bit.  15-20 minutes of him prattling on about a food item or listening to him chew

RIP.

That sucks.  Given my time difference I could turn him on for my morning coffee and get a light take on the Philly scene.  That was some years back as the streams were geo blocked the last several years.

May he RIP there!
