TomatoPie
RIP Big Daddy Graham. Only 68. True story: I had a $1000 budget to find an entertainer for a small conference in Philly in 2010. I wanted Joe Conklin but he wanted a lot more money. I reached out to Big Daddy who said "How much do you have to spend?" I said $1000 and he offered to do the gig for $999. I told him to keep it PG, but he was fresh off back surgery and flying on painkillers. He also drank a lot of wine with the meal, then began his presentation. He was (hilariously) vulgar. Half the audience loved it, half were appalled (not that many Philly people at the conference). He wrapped up with a hilarious joke whose punchline centered on the small, umm, endowment, of the legendary founder of this volunteer organization. He took it gracefully but oh man. After that, the conference planners never again risked having a comedian. 1

He began as a comic/novelty song guy in the 80s. Got a big break when John DeBella and the "morning zoo" crew at WMMR played his stuff.
