Posted April 28, 20205 yr The "Nasty Nate" (Nate Ilaoa) Award Criteria: When a player garners an unnecessary amount of hype immediately upon drafting/signing, largely due to the player's YouTube highlights, and then is a bust on the field and ultimately cut from the team. Previous Winners: Nate Ilaoa, Jeremy Bloom, Ifeanyi Momah, Donnell Pumprey, etc. My Prediction: Adrian Killins (RB). There's already some buzz around him due to his blazing speed, but I think he's too small and will eventually be cut. The Paul Turner Award Criteria: When a fringe player plays exceptionally well during the preseason, capturing the hearts of many Philly fans, only to be cut causing heartbreak and frustration. Previous Winners: Paul Turner, Henry Josey, Rasheed Bailey, etc. My Prediction: None. This one is too hard to guess at this time since it relies so much on actual preseason production. The Corey Clement Award Criteria: When a fringe player (low draft pick/UDFA) ends up making the team, gets playing time and ultimately makes a significant contribution to the team. Previous Winners: Corey Clement My Prediction: Michael Warren (RB). I was tempted to predict him as my Nasty Nate award winner, especially since he's being referred to as a "wrecking ball" type RB (similar to Nate "bowling ball), but I actually think he's a good complement to Sanders/Scott and will make the team as a short yardage back. Let's hear your predictions TATE 2.0!!!!!!!
April 28, 20205 yr Nasty Nate: Does Trevor Williams or Jatavis Brown qualify? Paul Turner: Greg Ward (forgive me) Clement: Agreed, Warren
April 28, 20205 yr The "Nasty Nate" (Nate Ilaoa) Award My Prediction: Shaun Bradley (LB) The Paul Turner Award My Prediction: Quez Watkins (WR) The Corey Clement Award My Prediction: Michael Warren (RB)
April 29, 20205 yr Nasty Nate started as someone who fans get obsessed with in CAMP. Inevitably, someone starts this topic way too early every year.

Nate Ilaoa's hype started right after he was drafted when his highlight reel surfaced of him bowling over college players (same with Jeremy Bloom, the Olympic Abercrombie model return specialist). TATE was so excited we got a "big back."

The Nasty Nate hype truly kicked in when people saw him play in camp. The award became a thing a year later. Regardless, someone always tries to be "first" to anoint a Nasty Nate. You have to let it happen naturally based on fan reaction.

As I specified in the OP, I asked who people's PREDICTIONS would be for the 3 identified preseason awards and I gave mine. Obviously, we will have to wait and see the preseason play out (and regular season for the Corey Clement award) before awarding anyone.
