Josh Sweat signed a contract extension over the weekend, agreeing to a new 3-year, $40 million deal with the Eagles that includes $26.92 million guaranteed and comes with a $10 million signing bonus, per Sweat’s agent.

The extension keeps Sweat under contract with the Eagles through the 2024 season.

After promptly signing the deal, Sweat was limited to just 39 total snaps, 54% of Philadelphia’s defensive plays on Sunday.

On Monday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni attributed Sweat’s lack of snaps to the 49ers personnel packages that likely embraced the rushing attack.

Sweat, Eric Wilson, and Avonte Maddox all saw reduced snaps, as Philadelphia focused on holding San Francisco to 117 yards on 38 rushing attempts.

I mean whilst I get that to some extent... You just signed him to a long term deal for a fair amount of money. And now BG has gone down for the year and so presumably Sweat is going to see more snaps? So he has to be trusted more against the run.
