Eagles injury update: Jack Driscoll among 3 players eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 4

By Mike Kaye | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Eagles could see a few familiar faces return to the lineup over the next few weeks.

Right tackle Jack Driscoll (pec), cornerback Josiah Scott (hamstring) and tight end Tyree Jackson (back) are now eligible to return from injured reserve following Monday’s 41-21 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Driscoll, Scott and Jackson were all placed on injured reserve prior to the Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. After missing three games, the trio is eligible to return to the lineup.

While Jackson hasn’t been seen at practice and will probably need a longer recovery timeline, Driscoll and Scott have been on the field throughout the regular season. Driscoll and Scott have worked with trainers in hopes of making a quick return.

Scott is probably the most likely to return in Week 4. He injured his hamstring in the preseason finale against the Jets, and he would immediately upgrade the depth at nickel cornerback behind Avonte Maddox. Defensive back Andre Chachere has been pulling double duty as a backup safety and nickel corner through three weeks.

The Eagles traded a 2022 sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire Scott this offseason. The second-year cornerback played sparingly with the Jaguars as a rookie.

Driscoll’s return would be a welcomed sight for the offensive line. With right guard Brandon Brooks (pec) on injured reserve, and left guard Isaac Seumalo (foot) and left tackle Jordan Mailata (knee) dealing with their own injuries, Driscoll’s return to the lineup could upgrade both the guard and the tackle depth. His timeline for medical clearance has yet to be clarified.\

Jackson broke a bone in his back following an impressive start to training camp and the preseason. The initial diagnosis of the injury was that Jackson would miss eight-to-10 weeks without surgery. So, Jackson is likely around a month away from returning to the field.

The Eagles have an open roster spot heading into Week 4, so they could take Scott or Driscoll off the reserve list without making a corresponding move. If the Eagles elected to take both off injured reserve, they’d only need to make one reduction to the 53-man roster.

Seumalo is a likely candidate to head to injured reserve after being carted off the field during the fourth quarter of the loss to the Cowboys.
