Kind of an interesting story buried by all the insensitive stuff is that Gruden is alleging that Goodell pressured Fisher to draft Sam. Isn't that kind of a story, too? The commissioner of the league pressuring a team to take a player solely because of his sexuality? Seems somewhat scandalous to me.

1) Used racist tropes against an NFLPA exec

2) Called Goodell a homophobic slur

3) Wanted Eric Reid blackballed for kneeling

4) Suggested the first openly gay player shouldn't be in the league

5) Slammed concussion mitigation efforts

In emails to an NFL team. Not private emails to private emails, He sent letters badmouthing the organization he works, to company email address for the WFT.

On the subject of morality, aren't the only people who are guilty of "hurting" anyone in this ordeal the journalists who decided to print the story? We're talking about private emails from a decade ago. Their contents would have never had a chance to see the light of day unless these people decided to release them. Any "hurt" in the gay, black, or **** NFL commissioner communities was directly caused by the writers covering the story, not Gruden. I use quotes because I don't actually think anyone would be so fragile that they'd let a 10-year-old email from some dude they don't know effect them emotionally in any way.

Hey bud, sorry to hear that your favorite coach felt the consequences of his own actions. Been a rough year for you I'm sure, what with the Chauvin conviction, Trump losing, and now this. If you need help finding numbers for grief counseling services or support groups, I'm sure TEW can point you in the right direction.

It's always darkest before the dawn. I'm just hoping Gruden will bounce back.

No doubt the Chauvin conviction and of course Trump losing are deeply hurting Kz's feelings, but stuff like the Gruden thing doesn't bother the far right at all.  It only feeds into their narrative that the left and their corporate friends are out to get everybody fired.

The following can all be true:

1. Gruden is a moron for putting any of that in e-mail, especially that explicitly. You'd have to fire him for stupidity if nothing else.

2. It was wrong for the emails to get leaked by the NFL. Attacking people using private email correspondence from a decade ago is ridiculous. I don't care how careful anyone claims to be, we all have emails that taken out of context would look bad in a headline.

3. Once the emails were leaked, the Raiders had no choice but to move on from Gruden. The negative publicity would have been killer. Plus, Carl Nassib is the first openly gay player in the league, and he would have been asked about this every day. That's not fair to him at all.

4. I think Mark Davis is secretly pleased he got out of a terrible contract.

The leak was wrong, but it left the Raiders with no choice.

This was already well known.

I wonder how the Gruden emails got leaked to the press... It seems like deflection. Don't look at everything that happened at WFT, look at what Gruden said!

Yeah, I've seen and heard worse. But yeah, Gruden deserves what he's getting because it's now revealed as a pattern. NFL can't run a "End Racism" campaign and say "It Takes All of Us", while ignoring this and leaving this guy in charge of a team. I'm afraid he'll be the fall guy while other bad actors hide in the shadows.

It’s clear the NFL leaked the Emails to build support for his firing.

That said, Gruden has no one to blame but himself.

Gruden can’t be the only one who has bad mouthed Goodell. I bet Payton has said some pretty bad things about him as well lol

Yes, but is he stupid enough to send it in an email to an NFL team corp email?

You have to give me 10-1 chance that Davis leaked them so he can get out of that horrible 10 year contract.

True.

Bingo. Goodell probably orchestrated the whole thing because Gruden slammed him.

Wouldn’t put it past him

They were dumb enough to do bounty gate

So if Gruden keeps his ownership, is he able to roam the sidelines?

thankfully the super bowl halftime show will have good wholesome lyrics

He probably could have survived the lips remark. I think it was the stuff that came out yesterday against female refs and gay players that probably did it.

Maybe, I dunno.  The michelin lips thing is an old grade school racist joke.  I remember having a book full of jokes like that you could get at the local bookstore.  Like it was literally in chapters by hispanic jokes, jewish jokes, polish jokes etc.  The Totally Tasteless series.

No it is not scandalous you nimrod of a cockroach of an excuse for a human being.  A 6th rd pick to break that wall?  FFS.  Marion Motley and those guys would have been worth multiple 1st rdrs.

Personally, I'm shocked Gruden is a d**k. Who saw this coming??

It's official: Raiders announce Jon Gruden as next head coach

That's why I say he should be fired just for stupidity alone.
