Sirianni digs himself deeper with flower metaphor

Nick Sirianni devotes a lot of thought to the various messages he gives to his players.

"I’m always thinking of different messages to give to the team that I think really fit the situation that I’ve gotten before in the situation from another head coach or from my dad or whoever,” he said Wednesday morning.

And at 2-5 with five losses in the last six games and a few ugly blowouts in the mix, he chose an extended metaphor to describe the lack of progress that’s visible while – in his mind – the unseen foundation grows stronger and stronger.

This is … deep.

"There’s gotta be a message that I have to keep everybody together and to keep everybody sticking to what we really want to do,” Sirianni said. "This is what I said to the team today, I said the results aren’t there right now but what’s going on here is that there’s growth under the soil.

"I put a picture of a flower up, and it's coming through the ground and the roots are growing out and the roots are continuing to grow out, and everybody wants to see results. Shoot, nobody wants to see results more than us. We want to see results too, but it’s really important that the foundation is being built and that the roots are growing out, and the only way the roots grow out every single day and they grow stronger and they grow better is if we all water, we all fertilize, we all do our part, each individual coach, each individual player, each everybody in the building that we do our part to water to make sure that when it does pop out it really pops out it really pops out and it grows.

"We are going through tough times and everybody wants to see results but just keep doing what we’re doing, keep watering. Look at yourself first and know, ‘Are you watering? And are you fertilizing every day?’ So when it’s time to pop it’ll pop.”

I'm sure the veterans loved this message.

He has no business being a HC. He's years away from giving it a legit try and he'd probably still fail. Sirianni is like a well intentioned teenager. He's not ready for Prime Time. That said, the blithering idiot who hired him should be fired immediately. I see you Howie...

This is pretty typical message from a HC/Team that is struggling........building a foundation, unseen growth, everybody learning their part.

The problem is that when this is actually happening, you DO see some improvement week to week......but we simply haven't seen any improvement.....it all seems to be getting worse.

In the Aikman ratings, the eagles defense has continually dropped into the 25th rank.  The offense continues to be downright painful to watch.

Until we see some glimmer of improvement or change......it just looks like the same old sh--

his metaphor was a mistake that required no talent.

What is he even thinking... I mean this guy is actually older than some of us (yep he's older than me) and yet he's clueless.

I can tell you now (and yes I appreciate that sports are different to the office) if someone came in to our work place as our manager. Started spouting nonsense like this we'd all roll our eyes and we'd all soon be huddled around about how clueless this guy is.

He's not got it. Quite plain, quite simple. He's a nice guy. I'm sure some like him and like to play for him but he's not got it. He can't lead a team to success.

The one silver lining I can see is, IF Sirianni fails miserably and so does Hurts, well they are both directly on Howie ... maybe Lurie will realize sooner rather than later that Howie needs to go.

Are we really hanging pictures of flowers?  Can somebody please go and tear that crap off the wall?

This guy has got to be the worst head coach in Eagle recent memory, if not history.  Chippy at least had some good ideas.  This guy is just an idiot.

Guys may actually be running better routes, blocking better, etc. but you won't notice it on offense because Jalen has struggled to throw the ball.

On defense... who knows what Gannon is actually trying to do.

I really don't see it bud. Because if the reports are true then Lurie played a part in the Hurts pick and definitely played a role in selecting Sirianni.
