Most sane post of the day

Obviously a lot more investigating needs to be done here, but just to join the uninformed internet speculation --

It seems both things can be true. This started as a career criminal fleeing the scene, and tragically he ended up driving into the parade. Once he got there, he decided to mow down as many people as possible because (i) he is human garbage and (ii) his views. It seems hard to think this was some premeditated terrorist attack and more an attack of opportunity. Kind of like 2nd degree murder -- it just wasn't premeditated.

Of course, that's all just my speculaiton.

Hope these scumbags fry.

As far as the, "don't rush to judgement", "we don't know if it was terrorism" and "he was just fleeing the cops" self righteous windbags are concerned.  I call complete BS.  What do you think all of the media would have been saying if the "suspect" was a white guy who posted Trump crap all over social media?  Or if it was Muslim who was constantly posting stuff about Allah and you know...Muslim stuff.  They would have been jumping to conclusions....but because it was a Black American....we all need to pause.  Anyone get the talking points from Lebron yet?

Fleeing the cops.....has there been a record of a dispatch call involving that car before he mowed people down?  Maybe there has.

Fleeing the cops.....if you wanna get away from the cops, are you going to go full GTA down a crowded street?

Fleeing the cops....he was steering towards people.....so if you were fleeing the cops, the fewer obstructions the better.  Right?

Fleeing the cops.....and this is very possible....maybe he was fleeing the cops.  But that doesn't take away from the fact that he decided to do what he did.  One doesn't cancel out the other.  There was definite intent....racially and/or politically motivated is my guess.

But yeah...let's not rush....We wouldn't want to offend anyone.

Fleeing the cops and you end up at a parade.  You jump out and flee on foot into the crowd and easily get away rather than run over everyone.

Bottom line for me, it doesn't really matter. When you have so little regard for human life? Something was going to give, it was only a matter of time. He should rot for the rest of his life regardless if it was 1st or 2nd degree.

he also clearly missed multiple attempts to hit more parade participants until his path was blocked by the marching band taking up the entire road.  The videos speak volumes.  He obviously said "f it" when it got crowed and turned into the crowd.

He also had to break through barriers to end up on the road. But I'm sure that was just the fastest way away from the knife fight he had just been in or something.

I can't bring myself to watch the video.

Me either.  Never understood why anyone would voluntarily watch these videos.

same.

the ghouls in here are trying to fit a narrative, so they'll watch it over & over and analyze it until they find what they're looking for.

I didn’t watch it.  I hate watching the 9/11 stuff too.  No thanks

Media talking heads and democrat politicians repeated talking points about Rittenhouse being a white supremacist for a full year following the incident he was involved in despite no evidence ever being presented that was the case (because there is none) but we can clear this guy's motive instantaneously despite the fact that his social media feeds are littered with nonstop anti-white propaganda.  Sounds about right.

"Don't politicize this incident unless it can be politicized against the right!" No one is buying it anymore.

I wontwatch it either.  I have no interest in seeing such senseless violence.

Terrible decisions led to a horrific outcome. Hopefully those responsible will suffer the full consequences of their actions under Wisconsin law.

They don’t show the SUV actually hitting anyone.  Just the point where it turns off towards the crowd on sidewalk.  And he wasn’t speeding at that point either

story about the guy has been removed by AP.

There is video of the guy driving through what appears to be a marching band. DoWorx shared it on the first page (with sufficient warning)

It's as horrifying as you think.

He could have done far more damage if that was the intent. I agree with barho that he was trying to flee and ended up where thick crowds of parade watchers were on either side and the marching band in the middle, and he decided to just plow through the band.

He should be done. This is a case where capital punishment is easily warranted. But if his intent was to kill a bunch of people he had the opportunity, so I suspect he's "just" human scum with no regard for life who was trying to get away from yet another criminal act.

Besides this happening in Wisconsin it’s not really comparable at all to what Kyle Rittenhouse did (or didn’t do).
Talk about grasping for straws…

5 dead and scores more injured.  Women and children.

I'm against capital punishment, but some people really make that a challenging stance to maintain.

Same. I'm largely against it because 1) rarely can guilt be proven 100% and 2) with automatic appeals and court costs it's often cheaper to just let them rot in jail.

Spot on.

Also, witnesses on the ground said it appeared he was swerving so as to hit as many people as possible. The overhead video DoWorx posted last night shows that. If his intent wasn't to mow down as many people as possible, he did an extremely poor job of it.

Shocking as the bolded may be, it does appear to be the case.  I am ok with it when there is complete certainty of guilt and the severity of the crime is warranting.

Yup, that’s me — black crime apologist and protector of their feelings.
