Everything starts with 1.

Off course you can, the elevated concern here however is that Wentz already is one concussion in, and a severe one at that. Subsequent concussions, God forbid, are at greater risk of being more frequent and more damaging.

Lol just like 99% of all the players in the NFL who at some point in High School,  College,  or while playing in the NFL have gotten a concussion at some point?? This thread and this post in a nutshell shows the overall problem and low IQ of some of these fans, which is a far more worrisome than Wentz's future with this franchise.

Remember on the old Eagles messageboard how Don Corleone and rest of the Wentz homers going berserk when trading Wentz while his value was high was suggested... lol

Yeah how foolish of us not to want to trade away a top ten franchise QB. Cause they just grow on trees.

Since it's inevitable that Wentz is going to suffer another debilitating injury; what injury is that going to be?

Yeah we look great now after paying 100 Mill to an injury prone QB that might call it a day in maybe 2 years...

2 years huh? I can pull numbers out of my A$$ also. Doesn't make them right. Will you still be complaining about a top ten Franchise QB in two years?

Go away troll.

Look, I hope he can stay healthy, if he did not have the extensive injury history, I wouldn't recommend trading him. Still think we lost a big chance to get a Herschel Walker type return, would have made the franchise a lot stronger now (of course if Howie drafted right with the return for Wentz)..

And have who as a QB? Franchise QBs don't grow on trees. We have one. If you don't have one it doesn't matter how good the rest of your team is. Look at the haul the Browns got for the trade that got us Wentz. They still suck.

I did not know the details of the concussion but knew it was significant and did consider it played a role in the Hurts selection. Now I think it likely. Concussions ended Kolb. NFC East defenders will be trying to take Wentz out on every play. They will intentionally take head shots, just like Clowney did, and Carson will not change his style of play.

You think they'd actually do that? I don't think they would. There's professional curtesy to be upheld surely? If defensive players started taking shots at QBs heads every week then the OL players are going to take serious action there and it would escalate.

I won't deny though some dirty players, cough Clowney cough, might.

It depends on how he exposes himself. Clowney took an obvious cheap shot, but others can always try and find a way to make it look good. Wentz takes off running, or someone gets a clean shot on him in the pocket after holding the ball too long.

I mean yeah perhaps but I'd really like to think that there's more professionalism than that.

Winning for many players means more money. I know in the past, there have been stories about players grabbing nuts in a pile of bodies trying to recover a loose ball. Players might not make their actions blatantly obvious, but I doubt many won’t give a little bit more that needed when they can.

Clowney has a history. Remember the cheap shot on Foles? I don't understand how that guy has a job.... wait 🙂

Oh absolutely yeah he does have a history for sure. That cheap shot was unfortunately not a complete surprise.

RE: Worries about Wentz retiring young and/or suffering a serious injury

Why are people talking like Carson Wentz is a clear-cut franchise quarterback and the Eagles will be doomed if does have a short career?  He had an excellent season in 2017, but outside of that he's largely been an average to somewhat better than average quarterback.  Excluding 2017, which only represents less than 25% of his career games, he has a career record as a starting quarterback below .500 (21-22).  It isn't out of realm of possibility that 2017 was Wentz's career season.

Wentz set franchise records last year with 3 guys from wawa at WR.  And in a short career Has already set numerous franchise and Nfl records.  here are just a few from 2019.  And again he did this with practice squad players catching balls and a rookie running back and a practice SEID running back.  And without his pro bowl right guard for a while.

  • First QB in history to have a 4,000 yard season without having a single receiver with at least 500 receiving yards[94]
  • First QB in history to throw for 20 or more TDs and 7 or less INT in 3 consecutive seasons [95]

Eagles franchise records

  • First quarterback in team history to throw for over 4,000 yards: 4,039 (2019)[96][97]
  • Most pass completions in a season: 388 (2019)[96]
  • Most pass attempts in a season: 607 (2016 & 2019)[96]
  • Consecutive games with a touchdown pass (19, streak ongoing)[100]
  • Lowest interception percentage: 1.2% (2019) (minimum 11 starts)[96]

Wentz is the only QB in NFL history to record 95+ passing touchdowns and 35-or-fewer interceptions in their first 54 career games.

Wait just a minute ... are you telling me Wentz was concussed? That's bad, right? Oh no!

We have had much worse.

Eric Lindros still sees Scott Stevens in his nightmares. It might be a bit premature to think Wentz is at that stage, but players are far more aware of the devastating effects of head injuries today and though I lack any substantial proof, I think the Clowney hit was far more disconcerting to Wentz and the organization than we know.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=16Z7-XRPcrw

Why isnt it though? He just welcomed his first child into the world. It's entirely possible that has him thinking about things. Not saying retirement is imminent, but if he finishes this contract or gets ir'd again....

He'll have made plenty of money to keep his family comfortable for life. Looking at some of the older guys hobbling around, it'd be foolish to not consider it in the above 2 scenarios.

If the concussion were a one-off injury, then sure, you wouldn't think it likely. But his history is full of injuries. With (at least) one to his back and head each. Now, I've spent the last 30 years dealing with a back problem and chronic migraines. That crap aint no fun. And it really hits home when you get on the floor to play with your child and realize, you can't stay down there long.

The amount of over exaggeration about this "early retirement” is astounding. Apart from Luck, what other QB has retired while in the prime of their career(Wentz hasn’t even hit his prime). It doesn’t happen. Wentz is 27, he likely has another 150 million contract after this one. You think he’s gonna give that up? Players deal with injuries and continue playing every year. Not everyone is a **** like Luck.

Retiring early didnt make Luck a Richard. It was doing it so late into the new league year. Had he told them confidentially that he was gonna retire before the draft, they could have made a move to get a new franchise qb. But he screwed them over by waiting. Thats what pissed people off. I think most people would say he actually good reason, just poor timing.

So that means you stop working? And walk away from 150 million which makes generational wealth. You guys are pulling this early retirement crap out of your A$$ because of Andrew Luck. The one and ONLY franchise QB to do it. Oh he had a kid he's gonna quit. Wtf? Oh he has been injured? Football Players get injured.

Did anyone say 'this year'? I specifically stated it wasn't imminent (Imo), in that post you quoted. Did you even read past what you decided to quote?

I get it though, you couldn't even bring yourself to admit he played poorly vs Seattle in the regular season game. Think outside your fandom for a minute. Read the entire statement I made, then put yourself in his position.
