it makes you wonder how Farve , the Mannings and Brady did it (Brady still doing it ) .

So you're saying you're a doctor and then saying that the vast vast majority of stress fractures aren't caused by repetitive overuse?  Because honestly that's flat out nonsense, and that guy on the link appears to be talking about just vertebral fractures in generalities not stress fractures.  It was announced as a stress fracture, both Doug and Wentz himself have referred to it a s a stress injury that developed over time.

Done being polite.  Yes, I am a doctor for more than 2 decades.  And you are wrong.  Lay people hear stress fracture and think what you think because sometimes that's what causes these injuries especially in runners. It is not always what causes these injuries.  I don't care about vast majorities.  We are talking about Carson Wentz back injury and what caused it.  His stress fracture was caused by impact.  Not repetitive stress.  Not wear and tear. By being violently hit and the vertebrae compressed and damaged in a way that induced a stress healing reaction in the bone causing his symptoms.   Tony Romo had the same type of injury only more severe.  In his case we knew the exact tackle it happened on.   You can also get stress reaction spine fractures from car accidents.

Well he took a nasty hit in the giants game and ended up on the injury report every week for back spasms and soreness. Would that progressively turn into a stress fracture or was it already one then? Sorry for sounding stupid, I'm just curious

Stress fractures don't show up right away on xrays after the injury happens.  The bone is damaged but you can't see it yet.  The pain will be there but it might not be that bad or might come and go randomly or it might only be present when doing certain things.  Later, when the bone starts to heal or when you do advanced testing beyond a regular xray you find the diagnosis.  So, yes, it could have been present since the Giants game.

Thank you for the information I was wondering about it and wasn't sure what happened and I know some said the eagles doctors screwed up again.

The amazement that Wentz asked if they were in the playoffs when concussed shows me how many doctors are on the board.

A literal conversation I had with my QB in high school when he got his bell rung:

Me - "Josh, sit the F down, you have a concussion."

Josh - "Am I bleeding?"

Me - "No Josh, you're not bleeding. Do you know what day it is?"

Josh - "Tuesday? Am I bleeding?"

Me. "It's Saturday Josh. No, you're not bleeding. What team are we playing?"

Josh - "Am I bleeding? Huh? Am I bleeding? Team? DeMatha?"

Me - "Josh, for the last f'ing time, you're not bleeding. We are not playing DeMatha. Wrong state even. Sit down."

Josh - "Am I..."

Everyone on the bench - "You're not bleeding!"

I get that people are upset that Wentz seems to be a walking injury, but I'm in shock no one has been around someone who has had a concussion. Some amazing responses.

I too once got a concussion playing indoor flag football with no helmet back in late November of 2013. One of my teammates went friendly fire, kind of like Sendejo did to Maddox against the Packers. Anyway, my teammates told me the back of my head hit the indoor soccer field wall and then hit the artificial turf after my teammate lunged at my chin. At the time I was 5'9" 160 pounds (I'm about 25 pounds heavier than that now, marriage does that to you), the first question they asked me about 2 seconds after I cam to was "who is the best QB in the NFL?"

My answer was "Nick Foles" which was true.

Called my dad like an hour later after sitting on the bench telling him I thought I had a concussion and he asked me "What is the velocity of an African swallow?" I responded "dad, that isn't the line." His answer was "you're just fine!" I was diagnosed with a concussion in the ER the next day and believe me, my head felt terrible for two days.

I also wasn't hit by a 270 pound man straight in the head.

There are a lot of players out there that have sustained concussions and have fudged their concussion tests. Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson have been very good at this and both have fudged a test 1 or 2 times. This will catch up with both of them. I believe that Hurts was picked merely as an insurance policy. I believe that he can be grown into a good player, but he is going to have to work very hard. I don't like the pick because he wasn't worth a 2nd round pick, but if he can be a gadget player, that would be good, but we saw how that works and it is not very well as per 2009.

What message is that?

I remember an interview with Frank Reich talking about Wentz needing to protect himself.  "In one ear, out the other!" were Reich's words.

While I don't believe that the selection of Hurts is a message to Wentz, but if there's any message then that would be it.

I think Hurts selection is more about having insurance policy at the QB position.  Wentz's history requires it, unfortunately.

I don't think it's as simple as that. Wentz is a play maker. He creates and extends plays. It's in his make up as a football player. To just stop doing that is to stop what comes naturally to him.

😂 Nice. Even Cowherd showing the love. I know he is too humble to acknowledge it, and too media savvy to come off as cocky, but he has to love seeing that.

Carson more than likely hasn’t even seen it

Yeah, it's called a concussion.

Hi, ND.

I'm going to say this after 4 months of this 2nd round pick. When it happened, I was absolutely flabbergasted. There are so many great positions and players on the board that we wasted this one on a guy that probably would have been there 1 round later. Also, you don't draft a QB in the 2nd round unless they will replace the starter. I was defending Howie all day and this is how he repaid me. I was more angry than I had been at the team for 5 years. If he is an insurance policy, fine. If he is going to play other positions in a wild cat situation, I hate that idea, but fine, if he is an insurance policy that is fine too, but the issue with that playoff game against the Seahawks was the fact that knowing Carson's injury history Pederson rode into the game with 2 QB's on the active roster and deactivated Sudfeld, who could have helped the team out with two quarterbacks getting injured ahead of him. So that error actually fell squarely on coaching because Pederson got too overconfident.

If the organization is using this pick to replace Wentz, my question is "why?" I get it, his injury history, but they gave him a damn mondo contract knowing he had these issues. Wentz was hand selected by Roseman and Pederson. My question is, "why would you second guess yourself like this?" Why after one of his best seasons would you think about replacing him, unless Wentz has come out and had reservations in playing 5 years down the line. That is really the only thing I could think of. Is Howie really that cut throat? But if that is the case, how did we keep Sproles for 3 years too long? How are we keeping Peters for 2 years too long? What makes them think that Hurts can start next year? I mean, not saying he will be bad, but I don't know if he is ready. I don't know if this is Roseman playing 5 dimensional chess while everyone is playing checkers. This just seemed like an impulsive move that will have a lot of buyer's remorse. Logically, the pick makes no sense and there is no real explanation for why it makes no sense.
