I liked the 2 main Jedi, McGregor as Obi-Wan was great casting, Maul was a good Sith villain, showing Palpatine rising up in the Republic and the location shots in Italy for Naboo looked great. Jar Jar, lil Ani were bad, and the pod race was ok but it was a long sequence that felt like it was to sell toys and video games. It also got bogged down in political talk early. You're excited to see a new SW movie after almost 20 years. You know it's going to be about Anakin turning into Darth Vader. And it opens with...a boring trade dispute. I liked the bit of mystery with the 2 Jedi though and seeing them in action. And of course one of the biggest issues was the overuse of computer graphics instead of real sets and practical effects. It was even worse in ep 2. Ep 3 got more grounded in that regard. The Pod race might be the most underrated scene in any of the movies. I hated it so much when I first saw it because by that point in the movie the kid had me through the roof. But after leaving it on 3-4 times when it was on cable, I started to really appreciate it and even flat out love it. But the rest of the movie is even worse on 2nd viewing.

Easy fly ball, I got this. Because George Lucas isn't f'ing Tolkien, that's why. Cannon was whatever cool special effects he could make. No matter how much fan fic and post Lucas stuff gets made, this universe will never make sense the way Tolkien or GRRm do. Ever. get over it.

May 20, 20205 yr https://screenrant.com/mandalorian-season-2-clone-wars-rebels-story-characters/ good read on how they may be trying to link the storylines in the animated series, clone wars & rebels, to mandalorian.
May 20, 20205 yr Anakin vs Obi-Wan saber fight is stupid it doesn’t even look like they’re trying to hit each other and the ending is ridiculous
May 20, 20205 yr Here’s the thing about prequels vs sequels. The sequels are better movies. They just are. We all know it. but the prequels are more comfortable because we all knew what was going to happen. We came for the details and got a ton of them. Star Wars is about world building as much as the movies themselves. The prequels gave us a lot of world.
May 20, 20205 yr Between the music video, the toys, the soundtrack and even the novel all being released before the movie, Lucasfilm just didn’t care if the plot was spoiled

Back when the prequels were out, people said Obi-Wan was saying it to R2 in a snarky way...as if to say don't give me up. "I don't seem to ever remember owning a droid." But like dawk said, some stuff was just made up. They did a bad job with eps 1 and 2 looking completely different, most of 3 looking different then all of a sudden in the last 5 minutes everything in 3 looks like ep 4. Then you have the cartoons that suggest more Jedi survived, Maul survived, that Han Solo gave money to get the rebels started yet he pretends to never have interacted with them in ANH..I mean they're kind of all over the place. Now Boba Fett will be alive because.

May 21, 20205 yr Author It's like introducing that force ghosts can interact physically and move or destroy things. So why don't they all just do that all the time to intervene?

Which, there is no excuse for that. The sequels either spent too much time on the OT characters, or it should have been about them. They tried to play it down the middle too much and as a result I didn’t care about the new characters. And the casino plot line.

And I think they should have just had all the originals in the first movie instead of spreading their introduction throughout.
