Known Eagles source says Brandon Brooks will return versus Washington

Gosh, this year flew by! We’re already just about halfway through the final month of 2021, and the Philadelphia Eagles have transformed a season that had us all saying ‘it’s going to be a long year’ into one that could end with a postseason berth.

Remember? We all kept saying that, but because of the way that they were playing at times, there were moments where it seemed like we were fooling ourselves.

Here we are though. Philadelphia is trying to hold a few teams off, the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons for instance, while they catapult themselves past the likes of the San Francisco 49ers, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Washington Football Team to earn a Wild Card berth.

It would be nice to see some familiar faces back in the lineup and healthy (Jalen Hurts, Jason Kelce, Jordan Howard, and Brandon Brooks to name a few). Brooks has been out of the lineup since Week 2 with a pectoral strain that landed him on the injured reserve.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni has been tight-lipped about his progress as you’d expect. There is, however, one trusted voice that believes he could be back in the lineup as early as Philly’s next game, a Week 15 divisional clash with the rival Washington Football Team.

Ed Kracz has a theory on what’s going on with a possible return by Brooks to the Eagles.

No lover of Eagles football has to be educated on who Ed Kracz is. He’s the man behind EaglesMaven.com and drops tons of consistent and informative content on the Birds for SI.com. He’s been on the Eagles beat for 11 years. In short, if you’re in a pinch and looking for some quality stuff, look his way.

Recently, he hung out with CBS Sports Radio’s Jody Mac and John McMullen of PhillyVoice.com on their Birds 365 podcast courtesy of JAKIB Media Sports. That interview can be seen in its entirety below, but, in the meantime, here’s what he had to say in reference to a possible Brandon Brooks return (fast-forward to the 9:30 mark for the audio).

He’s kind of kept us on the edge of our seats with that information… I expect (Nick Sirianni) is going to have information for us on Wednesday, and it’s been kind of interesting because if you look at Brandon Brooks’ ability to heal quickly… It’s kind of bizarre, I think, that here we are. He had a pec strain. I don’t know if he needed surgery or not. Maybe we’ll get information that he actually did have surgery… It’s kind of odd that he hasn’t come back already… I think we’re going to hear ‘he’s coming back on Wednesday. I really do. I think he’s going to return for this stretch run. That’s just my hunch.

That would be huge because, as both Kracz and McMullen put it, Brooks may not be back for the Eagles in 2022, and what better tool do they have for trading him in the offseason than putting him back on the field and showing the rest of the NFL that there’s some juice left?

It might be the Eagles’ bye week, but that won’t stop the rumor mill from turning now will it? There aren’t any days off at the NovaCare Complex, but how about that one for a drop huh?

If Brandon Brooks, in light of some recent injuries to Philadelphia’s O-line, can return to the lineup, that will be a huge step in a positive direction as this team, once written off by everyone, prepares for a push towards the NFL’s postseason.

Having Brooks back would be a real boost to this OL especially with Driscoll now out. I was of the opinion that even when healthy they should have continued to start Driscoll. There's no doubt Brooks is a better option but this team needs to look to the future and Driscoll was playing well. But now he's on IR this team needs Brooks back badly.

The Eagles are absolutely a different team when the right side of the OL is in tact.  If Brooks returns, Kelce heals up, and the left side stays healthy, this team can make some noise during these last few games.

Brooks needs to play and play well or else we’re going to move on a la Wentz.  Can’t have that much coin tied up in an injured player.  Rooting for him but he’s definitely on the clock.

The Eagles will probably have to draft a RG for depth and future replacement of Brooks. Four that come to mind are Kinnard (OT/OG) from Kentucky, Greene from Texas A&M, Johnson from Boston College, and Ekwonu from NC State. This draft has quite a few IOL prospects that look good. the Eagles should have options.
