time2rock
Is Milton Williams the next big thing for the Eagles? by Joey Sheeran | Jan 11, 2022 | Eagles Is Milton Williams the next big thing for the Eagles? Milton Williams has been having a really nice season. A season that really makes you look forward to seeing what he can do next season with a year under his belt in the NFL. If you remember it was the drafting of Williams in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft that we saw Tom Donahoe deny Howie a fist bump and give him a stink eye. All caught on camera. Something they never thought would see the light of day. It did. I’ve seen people on Twitter saying Williams is a new ‘Beast in the East, etc. Even I jumped on the excitement train this past Sunday. But, all honesty, am I ready to say MT is the real deal and one day going to replace Fletch Cox and do it successfully? Absolutely not! This is something we are all guilty of. We put these high expectations on these players and then bash them when they don’t instantly take the league by storm. I’m learned from past mistakes. I like Milton Williams. In fact, I like him A LOT. However, I’m good at taking a step back and letting him develop. Admire from afar and not put unrealistic hype around a player who still has much to learn but of course, can enjoy his journey in the now. He sits behind Fletch and Hargrave. Two players who have been brought up in a 3-4, 4-3, and now working in a hybrid. Williams is getting an ivy league type education right now. All while starting to make a new for himself with the limited snaps he has gotten his rookie season. Howie did the right thing. Trusted his gut and not Tom Donahoe (no offense, Tom). Milton will develop into the player we want and need. I’m just willing to give him the right amount of time to do so. https://eopsports.com/is-milton-williams-the-next-big-thing-for-the-eagles/
UK_EaglesFan89
He's a third round pick and he's had a nice year as a rotational guy. If he can develop in to a good starter then that's great for a third round pick. If he stays as a rotational guy who has an impact when he's in there then that's also really good. time2rock
It'll be funny if Williams turns out to be a much better player than McNeill who is the player they missed out on (and ended up having to "settle for" Williams) - the one Donahue wanted and got miffed at Roseman (refusing to fist bump him lol) when Howie traded down a couple of spots and McNeill ended up getting taken by Detroit with the pick just before our new spot.

Out of interest how has McNeil done this year?

Procus
We'll see. I don't give much weight to these amateur takes. If you go on Twitter, you'll quite a few podcasts and articles from users with just a few followers.

But McNeil started more games and I would imagine played more snaps. So overall I guess you'd give the edge to MW.
