Three Possible Replacements for Jonathan Gannon

PUBLISHED BY

If Jonathan Gannon decides to take a head coaching job, should he get an offer somewhere else, then the eagles should expect to be a hotspot for defensive coordinators. This would be due to their talent on all three levels, their veteran leadership, and the potential of all the young players on the roster. With reports of Jonathan Gannon getting requests for interviews for the head coaching position in Denver, and Minnesota, lets take a look at three potential candidates that might fit well into the Eagles coaching staff.

Jerod Mayo: This would be a nice replacement for several reasons. One of them being, he was a former linebacker in the league, and currently is the inside linebackers coach for New England. He’d be a great coach for developing the eagles young linebackers. It would also be beneficial, because although the Eagles linebackers took a jump from last year to this year, they’re still the weak spot of the defense. He also has some relation to the Eagles being that he interviewed for the head coaching job last year.

Luke Fickell: A very smart and talented defensive minded head coach that made history by bringing an ACC team to the college football playoffs, Luke Fickell will be getting plenty of NFL attention this off season. He’s 48-13 as the head coach of the bearcats, with their defense being their strong suit during his time there, making him an intriguing candidate to keep an eye on.

Jerry Gray: The packers defensive back coach since 2020 has quickly made an impact for the packers defense. He helped launch the career of Jaire Alexander, and helped him to become one of the best corners in the league. He also impressed by getting the best out of guys such as Kevin king, and helping turn around Rasul Douglas’s career.

It’s not a guarantee that Jonathan Gannon will get an offer to be a head coach somewhere else, but if he does keep an eye on these names during the off season hiring cycle.

I think Mayo would be a good choice BUT there's no point in bringing in a guy high on LBs if the FO aren't going to align their moves to that.

Gannon isn’t getting a HC job. There are too many candidates that are way better.

If, by some miracle, a team is dumb enough to hired him as HC then Fangio is the guy they need to go for.

Fickell is not coming to the NFL as a DC.  He could get a high level P5 job at anytime and command 7+ million a year.
