I'm with Tucker on this one, if I don't at least entertain the idea that I might be sexually attracted to a chocolate bar, then I don't want to eat it.

I'm sure she's a perfectly capable actress, fit the role, etc. but were they sitting around a boardroom one day saying, "we need POC's in at least X prominent roles"? Are they doing it to expand their marketing reach (which makes sense) or just to meet a metric handed to them by a DEI consulting firm? I dunno. Maybe they just wanted to modernize and do something different with the role because it's been done before, multiple times. Or maybe she fit the filmmakers vision of what they wanted the character to be. She played the part fine. And again, it's a character where the ethnicity just doesn't matter.

I’m sure you’re being facetious, but the point of the story is that they had to smash the patriarchy by changing the shoes on two female cartoon characters, and then blather about it to show just how woke the company is.

So F'ing what already. This whole ish is getting tiresome. If you are for capitalism then none of this should be a problem to any of you. Mars or Hershey or whoever owns M&Ms is only doing any of this because they think they may sell more product. They don't give two ishes about anything "woke". Same with the rice and the pancake syrup.
January 28, 20223 yr I predict tv providers are going to wake up to the dangers of right wing propaganda being spread by channels such as OANN, Newsmax and perhaps Foxnews and cancel them from their channels offered. They will do this because their monetary benefits would disappear in a authoritarian government where tv would be run by the government.

I’ve already pointed this out on here about this story once but the point of the M&M campaign is to get people to talk about M&Ms. I can promise you that they don’t mind if you mock them or get outraged at them, as long as your reminding people that they exist. They’re getting a lot more distance out of outrage and mockery than they are from support and they were well aware of that going into this. They’re not woke, they’re just good at marketing (or I should say, the firm that pitched the idea to them is).

They risked nothing (I mean, we're talking about changing the clothes on a cartoon character) and gained countless hours of free advertising, initially from the right wing media raging against it or mocking it and then from the liberal media, mocking the right wing media for raging against it.

January 28, 20223 yr 10 minutes ago, Outlaw said: NOBODY "raged" against it. Again, mockery, raging, it doesn't matter. The only way the strategy M&M employed works is if the right wing media ecosphere uses it as an example of everything going woke. Without that initial push from them, there's no joke for the liberal media to make about the right wing media and the message doesn't spread. The right wing media is the most essential component of any brands "woke" ad strategy.

Yeah but for a company that’s gone along so long and so long w/o using social/political gimmicks you would think this is below them.
