Frankly, I am not sure what doctor is going to agree to perform such a procedure on a child. Especially when there is threat of lawsuits, as the Ohio bill explicitly calls for.

idk if it's the case in every state but my kid had to get a sports physical exam every year in order to participate in hs sports. they weren't pickle peepers but they did the usual "turn your head & cough" hernia test.

To recap:

The personal decision to play a sport and get a note that they do\don't have a dingdong - bad

The personal decision to pump a child with hormone blockers - good

Just trying to understand where the line is.

They're completely different conversations regardless of your feelings on trans kids.  One involves a mandatory evaluation of a kid's genitals by someone outside of the family in order to perform a common childhood activity. Another is voluntary and only involves the kid and their family. My kids ding dong isn't anyone else's business.

Playing sports isn't manditory

Didn't say it was.  I said a mandatory genital exam in order to participate in something as commonplace as school sports is different conversation than elective medical decisions within a family group. Regardless of how you feel about those decisions.

There's the kicker... I believe pointless examinations as required by the state of Ohio (with threat of lawsuits, etc.) will ruin girls sports.

Great... so now we both that both are voluntary actions with mandatory steps.  And for these two issues you are against notes for children but pro hormone blockers.

I am pro families and children being able to make decisions for themselves and anti outside groups forcing them to get their genitals examined in order to participate in everyday childhood activities. This really isn't that hard.

Just go with the designation on the birth certificate.  If you are classified as male then your option is the boys/mens team.  That doesn't stop you from identifying as a female.  If you want to change your designation so that you can play on the female team then there needs to be a process to follow and you'll need to get to official no ding dong status.

So yeah, sheet law in Ohio that should be dumped.

You're pro irreversible sex procedures on minors, aren't you?

That's what I was thinking. Birth certificate should suffice. Anyone born with a D should not be playing girls sports. Period. They can identify as a woman, but if they want to play sports, they need to compete with men.

It's not.  If anything, I find your take quite simple

Yep. Being anti weiner checks doesn't mean I think biologic men should be able to compete with  biological women competitively.

If you really can't see the difference in the situations here I don't know what to tell ya at this point. Again should be pretty obvious to anyone not trying to shoehorn in their personal beliefs on trans folks.  I'm gonna go ahead and continue to follow the guidance of the AAP and other medical societies when it comes to the subject but your opinion is noted.

Good that it is settled.  We go with the original weiner check.  No additional weiner checks necessary.

So what are your thoughts on giving children puberty blockers?

Most school sports require physicals to join a team. I agree that your ding dong isn't anyone else's business, until you're walking around balls out naked in a girls locker room.  Then yeah, it's other people's business.

Sports physicals are generic. They don't go into details on the state of their genitals. And like Dr Philly pointed out they can accomplish the same thing by checking a birth certificate.

Questioning Reaction GIF by Lil Yachty

Ohio Republicans want to inspect the Genitals of children. No surprise they are bunch of perverts.

I read with horror the June 8 article "Transgender athlete bill could require genital checks," which fact-checks the details of House Bill 151 banning transgender students from participating on female sports teams.

I can’t imagine what Ohio House Republicans were thinking. Obviously, they were not thinking of student-athletes as children because House Bill 151 applies to "female athletes” as young as 5 through college age.

Oh no, genital inspection for trans athletes by doctors during physicals!?? HAVE THEY NO SHAME????

dropping your drawers for a sports physical has been around for decades.
