It's like a cross between hangman and mastermind.

Anyone care to explain WTF this game is?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, "Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day,” and the darkness he called "night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

And God said, "Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault "sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land,” and the gathered waters he called "seas.” And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Did I win?

Dumb game where you guess what the word is - you are told if the letters are correct, and in the correct place. You have 6 tries.

I use "DRAPE" and "LINTS" as my first 2 guesses usually, unless I get enough letters in the first round to start guessing in Rd 2

Some other words I've seen people suggest that cover most common letters.  I'll start with usually SMART or STERN.  Then to knock out vowels you can use ADIEU and also get a popular consonant.  A lot of times there are S, T or R so I don't always use ADIEU but rather start knocking out other popular consonants like PORCH or CHUMP.

A facebook friend says he uses audio as his first guess every time.  Similarly I’ve tried using ratio and patio.  I like the three vowel words.

ADIEU is better because E is going to be more common.  I used to use that but even if I got vowels then you have to waste guesses on the consonants and I found that using words with more consonants made it easier to guess what the vowels might be.

The only time I use "adieu” is when you come into a thread I’m posting in.

So everyone has the same word, each day?  Is that what 235 means?

Yes. The real game is 1 word per day.

Yes. Everybody logging on today is guessing the same word, "Wordle 235". The blocks tell you how their guesses went. Tomorrow everybody will be guessing "Wordle 236"

So it would be a total Dck move if someone came in here first thing in the morning, everyday and share what that word is?

There are a thousand imitators. Using different words. There are ones that can give you a new word every time. To the question, yes, that would be a D move.

Well we could just do like you and put half the board on ignore because they made us sad.

That might be funny if it were true, but you can't help yourself.  My favorite is when I post something then you randomly google something going on in Tennessee that is unrelated, usually around the same time you tell Dr Philly he shouldn't discuss anything outside of where he lives.  :P

STALE or STARE are best opening words. A lot of words either start with S or end with E. The one time I didn't use either of those 2 starting words lead to my only fail with the word STAFF

I use stern. Maybe stare works better with 5 letter words because most have two vowels.

Today was the 2nd day I did a wordle. Got it in four but I pasted it into my work's slack so it's all mangled.

Anybody try nerdle?

Hard mode is still 5 letters, it just forces you to carry over any green or yellow letters from previous guesses
