According to NFL Network Jim Trotter the 49ers are looking to trade Garoppolo possibly to the Eagles.  Any additional information on this topic and is he worth a 1st round pick or maybe a 2nd?

What to make of weird Eagles-Garoppolo trade buzz

Quote

Before you go nuclear, I'm here to tell you: that buzz is fabricated. Is there a tiny, theoretical chance that Roseman trades for Garoppolo? Yes, because he's an NFL player and Roseman is in charge of an NFL team.

But this current sweep of trade noise is extremely overblown, a result of twisted words and a good look at how the internet's rumor mill can run amok.

Here's what happened.

On Monday, Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer tossed a note at the bottom of his Monday Morning Quarterback column looking at Garoppolo's trade value. Here's what Breer wrote:

"While we’re there, it’s really hard to assess the trade value of Jimmy Garoppolo. The reason? We still don’t know which quarterbacks are going to be available. There’s a good group of suitors out there ready to take a major swing at the position (the Broncos, Eagles, Panthers and Commanders)."

Here's what you should take away from this note: the Eagles are a suitor for the quarterback position as a whole, and their involvement (or non-involvement) in a trade will be part of what shapes the QB trade market - including Garoppolo's market.

A first? No, I don't think so. A 2nd? I don't know about that either. Maybe a conditional 3rd that turns into a 2nd if XXXX happens, or a 4th if he doesn't play XXXXX amount.

Why don't we trade a 2nd for Garapolo, and a 1st for Watkins? And just let QBs compete? LOL

OR!!!! We could just keep the picks, build the rest of the team, and target 2023 as potential date for QB draft? I would go with the later, if Hurts doesn't step up in 2022.

Not a chance lol.  Garoppolo hasn't looked any better than Hurts has.  Better off hanging onto Minshew.

I would be pissed if gave up a 3rd for Jimmy G.

It would depend on the conditions. 3rd to a 2nd if we win the Super Bowl and he plays up until game 12.5, then Nick Foles comes in and leads us to glory. 3rd to a 4th if we don't get to the Super Bowl.

I see no conditions why I would give up a 3rd or even a 4th  for a bad QB

all you people saying he sucks would have loved to have been playing in the nfc championship game like him just saying!!! still not interested but he doesn’t suck.

He sucks. They were in the NFC Championship Game in spite of him.

Nah, it's bull crap buzz. No truth to it.

He is always hurt and he blows. Should fit right in.

You do realize Reporters always have the Eagles linked to just about every player that is avail on the trade block right?

Just get Foles back here, let him ride the bench until Thanksgiving, and throw him in for the rest of the season and playoffs.

It’s not a legitimate rumor.  There aren’t any dots connecting Jimmy G to the Eagles other than he will likely be available via trade and some speculate that we may possibly be in the market for a QB.  These threads are the worst.

How about 49ers gives the Eagles a 2nd round pick for taking Garopollo....

Not a good idea.  We need a guy that can sling it like Allen or Herbert.  Will open up the offense and let the fireworks begin.  That’s not Jimmy G.

He’ll be here by the end of the weekend

honestly I'm surprised it's taken this long for his name to come up. I think he is a decent QB with potential, and think he's an upgrade over Hurts, however, I wouldn't give up anything better than a 3rd for him.

The Niners may want to trade Garrapolo and because of the ammo we have they may see that as an opportunity. Doesn't mean it will happen.

I think Garappolo is actually underrated.  It would not be crazy to pick him up if in a trade of Hurts, either in the same deal or a separate one, you were able to recover similar draft capital to what you had to give up for Garappolo.

Garappolo has made a Super Bowl and two NFC championships in the past three seasons and lifetime is 33-14 with 8.4 Y/A on a 67.7% completion percentage.  Compare that to, say, Josh Allen, who lifetime is 39-21 with 7.1 Y/A  and 62.3%.  And if you are thinking, well, Allen has grown into a much better thrower at this point, the numbers do not bear that out -- this year Allen had 6.8 Y/A and 63.3% vs Garappolo's 8.6 Y/A and 68.3%, and Garappolo was in a much tougher division.  (Allen has more TDs and INTs than Garappolo but pretty close given the extra number of games he has started -- Allen of course has a big edge in rushing.)  Garappolo was not good in the playoffs this year, but he had a thumb injury and a shoulder injury which definitely affected him.

I am not saying Garappolo is a guy I covet -- he's not, including because his durability is definitely questionable -- but there are a lot worse guys out there you could have as your starting QB if that is the way it shakes out.

Why does this sound so... familiar?
